Birth Control Pill recs for PCOS?

Just diagnosed with PCOS, so I'm most likely going back on the Pill. I stopped Seasonale last summer (not knowing that I had PCOS and it was probably managing the problem for me!). I liked it after the first month of horrible moodiness, but it totally killed my libido and made my boobs grow, which I really don't need. I'd love to find a pill that did NOT have those side effects, and I'd also consider Nuvaring.

Any suggestions? I've done a search, and a lot of people seem happy with Yasmin, but then the occasional few really hate it.

every PCOS case is different

Talk to a reproductive endocrinologist to see if it is necessary. One who specializes in PCOS. I have PCOS and DESPISE the BCP and refuse to take it - makes my voice crack, plus above symptoms. And we have a history of blood clots. The only time I was required to go on BCP was to induce when I didn't have a period for 5 months. I went on Ortho-Tricylin for 5 months. It sucked and I stopped when things calmed down. The next step for me would be glucophage. Hoping to avoid that.

If it is required, finding the right one may require trial and error. Every PCOSer presents different symptoms and reacts in their own way.

Isn't nuvaring just another delivery method of said hormones?

good luck!

Hi,

Do you need to prevent pregnancy or just control the PCOS.

Seriously, I like to think of myself at the Queen of Hormones. I still don't know if I have PCOS.

Looking back, I almost think that inducing ovulation will be the cure for PCOS rather than preventing ovulation.

I have lots of books at home on the topics. I can look information up for you.

Firstly, try to manage your diet. There is a lot of information online for PCOS diets (low carbs).

Have you been tested for insulin resistance ? Another great test to help you learn abour your body.

What about your blood pressure and cholesterol levels ?

Last but, not least, if the Pill is the answer for you, I was always the happiest on Diane-35.
Some say it is not a birth control, although I never got pregnant while taking it.

Also, if you are not worried about getting pregnant and want to induce ovulation to regulate your cycle there are lots of medication that they can give you that will not hurt your voice.

If you need more information, email me at monstersoprano@hotmail.com
