Do any of you up-towners know when/if the Columbia track is open to the public (up in Inwood)?

I've tried to find information on their website, but either did not look hard enough or it's just not there...

I run by that track a lot and would LOVE to do some interval training... if only it was open...

No idea, but...

You should run with us on Saturday mornings. We go to CP and do interval running (because someone, no names, is still new *ACHOOsempre*)

Last Sat we jogged 3 min walked 1 min for 3.64 miles. Yes, I am specifying the distance, and yes, it is because I am totally bragging. It is more fun that it has a right to be, considering it is good for you. And you can't find better running mates than VeganDiva and BenVenga. If that STILL doesn't convince you, we run on the bridal path, so it is easier on your knees than concrete or asphalt.

PS if you are more advanced than that pace, you can come early or stay late, because I know for a fact that VD and BV keep going after I leave wink.gif

I may join up with y'all sometime! Congrats on your newbie-status to running! It's going to become an addiction, I swear.

I'm starting training for a half marathon, so I may want Saturdays to be my long-run day, but still, running with company is always fun. Are you training for any races? Sounds like you're more than ready to do a 5K! Annnnd you get a T-shirt, too. So it's proof that you're a real athlete. happy.gif

I did 5K last night. =)

And Saturday, too. I actually just decided that I do want to run a 10K at the end of the summer. I just need to pick one. And yes, I am man enough to admit that part of the appeal is having a t-shirt that says I can do it! =)

As to distance, I know for a fact that both of my Saturday running mates run keep going after I leave (at a stronger pace) so you would not have to worry about having enough distance covered!

What half marathon are you training for?

Also, if you ever do want to run with us, email me:

How does our running group work? Well, last Saturday (for example) I got to the park and put in 5 miles before meeting Sempre and Ben Venga. We all met up around 9 a.m. and ran 3 minutes/walked 1 minute for about 3.5 miles (For Sempre) then I ended up doing another 4 miles after Sempre left.

I am always down for running long... so let me know if you'd like to come out and play in the park!

...there's an outdoor track at riverbank state park (145th street) that's open to the public.

you can also pay an annual fee to use the track in the armory (168 and ft washington) on...tuesday or thursday nights, i think.

A belated thanks!!!!

Sorry guys, I tend to disappear from the land of NFCS for days at a time.

Thanks for all the offers for running buddies and what-not! It all sounds quite fun, so depending on my weekend schedules (which tend to fluctuate greatly), I'd love to join sometime!

And I'm training for the Hartford half-marathon, which is where I'm moving in August (for maybe the next year-- cheaper rent, friends there, church jobs, still less than 2 hr. drive to the city for gigs). It's a weekend of Marathon/Half Marathon/5K, and it's a really nice course, if anyone's interested!

Also, great leads on the tracks in the area. Muchos gracias!
