New York Opera Forum will be holding auditions for the 2009/2010 season on Saturday June 27th from 12:00-5:00, and Monday June 29th from 6:00-9:00. If you would like to schedule an appointment or need further details, please call (212) 865-6786, or send an e-mail to richardlinda@earthlink.net

The operas to be performed are :

Le Nozze Di Figaro
Anna Bolena
Ariadne Auf Naxos
La Clemenza Di Tito
Alcina
Carmen
Das Rheingold
Les Contes d'Hoffmann
Elektra
Idomeneo
La Gioconda

*Posting for Mr. Nechamkin -- I've done stuff over the years with this workshop. Yes, it's a PTS, but you get two private coachings and at least 4 rehearsals & two performances (minimum). It's a good deal, and a good way to try out a role!

Signed,

A Valkyrie in New York!

Rehearsals?

June 23 2009, 10:45 PM

When does NYOF generally rehearse? I work several nights per week, so I want to make sure there's no conflict before I audition.

Thanks!

I'm doing Cosi with them this summer...

And most of our rehearsals are going to be on Wednesday nights. If it was during any other season I wouldn't have been able to do it because of church job rehearsals but thankfully it's summer. I don't have my planner on me, but I'm pretty sure there are a couple of extra rehearsals before the first performance.

Just curious... Do you have to sell any tickets or sing in the chorus/

Nope

The fee is for the coachings and role. V-NYC correct me if I'm wrong but I think tickets are only $10 or a donation...I don't remember but I've been to a couple of these that friends were in and it's concert style, with music, piano accompaniment.

NYOF is great!

June 28 2009, 11:21 PM

I did several roles with this group when I got out of grad school. Richard is great and it's a fun atmosphere. Whenever I need to bring an accompanist to an audition in NYC, Richard is the first person I call. He plays well AND knows his stuff. Your fee includes private coachings on your music. You are not required to do any kind of ticket sales. A great way to get some roles under your belt!

Sorry, been out of the loop, getting back into the swing of working some days, while looking for something permanent, and juggling all the OTHER balls in my life!

Doing ELEKTRA (Chrysothemis), IDOMENEO (Elettra) and GIOCONDA (title role) next summer..... who else is in?

I was hoping you'd be singing Ariadne, and I'd get to hear you!
