Response to Considering what Banff has done in the past...

At least when you do a brand new opera you can experience the modest thrills of premiering a new work. Whereas when you're doing a "new" opera that's been used over and over and over again all over North America, particularly the "America" part of that, there's nothing particularly original or innovative about doing it, and it does indeed smack a little of the program director recycling a production. Pelleas, sure, fine. Whatever. Kind of a dull pairing in my view, though.
