not from commentators (who even on the far wingnut right have more sense than this) but from people who post online...they still are clinging on to the idea that McCain lost because he wasn't conservative enough. Of course these area also people who believe that Obama was born in Kenya and all sorts of other conspiracy nonsense. But there are more people like this than you would think. Not a majority of Republicans I suppose but a good chunk of the "base" that we hear so much about. Anyone seeking the nomination in 2012 or 2016 cannot afford to offend or alienate these people and that's a huge problem for the GOP.
