in the case of the US I do wish there were more people in positions of power (or at least influence with those in power) who would say "are you sure there's not another way to do this without dropping bombs that will kill civilians and just make people hate us even more?" before we did some of the things that we have done over the last 50 years. If not, okay. But I think sometimes we didn't even try to find a diplomatic solution.
