F-111 question

I found you by accident. What an impressive site.

My mission was to research an insignia on the belly of my F-111A model. It is that of a "chevron" multi color aft of the nose wheel bay and forward of the "cannon" door. The color scheme starts with blood red, to bright white, sky blue and finishes (aft location part of the "<<<<") caution yellow. Can you tell me what this represents?

I was a Crew Chief on F-111A aircraft from 1967 - 1971, and I never saw this marking. The model I have is that of an F-111A tail number UH AF680 20thTFW... this aircraft was used for sortie in the North and based at Royal Thai AFB...

By the way, I am surprised not to see on the two pages for USAF aircraft any representation of the F-111.

Again, nice site. If you have any information on the "chevron" I described, could you email me back at glenngutridge@hotmail.com
Thanks...
Glenn
