I can understand not being thrilled with him but it seems a little like a knee jerk reaction to think Christie might be better.
Is it possible that your expectations as a voter were too high? I don't mean that to be facetitious, but, to think anyone could solve these massive financial problems in 4 years seems a little naive to me.
I can understand you not liking some of the other stuff you mention, but, at a time when we could be the next state giving out IOU's those seem a little tangential to me. Heck at least he is not hiking the Appalachian trail.
I think if cleaning up the state is a goal, then Christie should have stayed right where he was and could do it. anti-corruption is not the governor's main job but that is what he is good at. Or maybe give him a task force or something. But let him do that, not run the state and try to solve the financial problems, he just has no qualifications.
I think Corzine made genuine attempts to resolve our financial problems and hasn't gotten much cooperation from unions, legislature, etc. Plus the public in NJ just seems to want top services and lower taxes and don't want to hear that that will not work. (I am not saying that about you, just in general).
When I read all Corzine's budgets and proposals, I thought they made good sense and when I compare them to Christies, they seem far superior and Christie's seem like pie in the sky.
He might be able to implement them all, but at least on paper they sound like they have potential... whereas to me, Christie's do not. On that alone, I am sticking with Corzine.
It reminds me of the Florio and Whitman thing. Everyone balked and blamed him when he raised the red flag that we were going to go bankrupt - remember the bathroom tissue tax fiasco? Then in a knee jerk reaction they went for Whitman, who is retrospect, in my opinion, the one who did the most damage. Then we call in another Democrat to try to fix her mess. Now in a knee jerk reaction people want to hear 'clea up the state, cut the taxes". Back and forth, back and forth. But maybe we shoulda just sucked it up long ago and paid the toilet tissue tax

And if we didn't do it then, then maybe we should do it now!
I wish all the state's budget problems could be solved by good old fashioned common sense and a little belt tightening but I do not think so.
Maybe once these two candidates get talking and get their platforms out there you might reconsider. I am not saying he is the best think since white bread but I still think he would do a better job, realisticially speaking, than Christie.
