Looking for a salon in Baltimore!

I have thick hair that requires a good amount of attention. I just moved to Baltimore and don't know any salons! I know I can't get good results with a cheap salon, but I'd really like to avoid paying for another $80 haircut. Any suggestions???

The owner is also a theatrical (especially opera) makeup artist - has loooads of operatic clients. Tell her what you need, and if she feels one of her staff are good with your type of hair, she'll refer you to them if they're more appropriate than she is (although she is excellent herself)

I do! I would love to know for future reference.

I don't have tight curls, though. Also, I've gotten a haircut from a Deva specialist once, and it was super expensive, and I felt like the cut wasn't very conducive to straightening, which I like to do from time to time. Will she do a regular cut that can be worn curly and straight?

I go to...

Ally at the Whitemarsh "Spa on the Avenue". She does an awesome curly girl cut AND cuts are only $36. I usually get a deep conditioning, and the total is $46.

She's actually listens to you about what you want in your hair, and understands the dry-shrink effect. I have very curly hair, and she usually cuts in long layers that give my hair room to curl without creating an Evil Pyramid or taking away my volume.

Actually, it was funny because a few visits ago I showed her my potion for taming my mixed hair, and she was so interested. When I went back last month she was so happy to tell me that she was telling other mixed curly girls about the tricks she learned.

Strong rec. Hope it helps.
