| I'm certainly hoping to get a good amount of scholarship from the school, but I know of people who have gotten substantial money from private sources. My flatmate when I was an undergrad (she was a grad student) found a little-known scholarship from the trust of someone who had loved opera and got a $1000 personal check from the estate once a month, no strings attached!
I guess I'll just have to talk to that friend! I thought those kinds of arrangements were fairly common, but maybe I'm wrong.
