When applying to grad schools, would anyone recommend I list opera chorus work on my resume since I only have 8 or so roles/partial roles to list? Undergrad chorus work? Professional chorus work?

... yeah ...going to xpost in YAP formum

Re: speaking of resumes...

I've been on several grad admission committees at conservatories and universities - I would put the chorus work on the resume (for now)as it shows stage time and implies acting, experience with taking direction quickly, and languages. HOwever, I would put it after your other performing experience, not integrated. Put your roles/scenes in order starting with most recent and then something like:

Opera Ensemble Experience:
Washington National Opera: opera; opera
Kentucky Opera: opera; opera; opera

If you've a ton, just put the ones with the biggest chorus parts. Don't space it out too much so it looks like filler.

Good luck!

Question about summer programs on resumes:

February 10 2009, 4:23 PM

When listing a summer program on your resume (one in which you did not perform a complete role) do you suggest:

Just listing the name and year?
Listing any scenes/pieces performed?
Listing coaches and staff?
Giving a brief description of classes taken/subjects covered?

Thanks!!

Depends

I have mine under "Training" - Company/Program Name/Director of Program/Year.

It really depends on how much you already have on your resume. If you don't have full roles yet, or very few, a section for Scenes would be okay. DO NOT LIST THEM UNDER ROLES PERFORMED!!

If you worked closely with a coach or staff member, and feel like they would be able to speak well about you to an interested party, by all means, put them on. If you had one half-hour coaching with a visiting artist... eh, you might want to skip it.

As far as classes or subjects, again, if you don't have a lot of professional experience yet and need to bulk it up a bit, a "special talents/skills" section can work. If you took a stage combat workshop, any dance classes, intensive language courses, etc., those all can find a home under that heading.

IMHO!
