the gaslight district (near the intersection of martin luther king @ clifton avenue) is very popular with ccm students. very bohemian with coffee shops, skyline, movie theater, and graeters . . . a growing number of students are living in liberty hill (conveniently located immediately north of downtown) . . . an affordable neighborhood undergoing some gentrification although there are some shady spots between ccm and liberty hill . . . and many students like to live immediately east of campus, although i always thought the apartments there were often a little dilapidated . . . but walking approximately five minutes to reach campus is a pretty fantastic perk. rent is soooooo affordable in cincinnati; with one or two roommates (or maybe a studio), you could easily find something between $300-400/month . . .
temple jobs are almost impossible to get . . . i had sung hhd services for about three years before moving there, and the best i ever got was a few opportunities to sub for sabbath services . . . but almost anyone can find a church job . . . send emails now to any faculty you know well enough to ask for suggestions on churches looking to fill positions, or wait until you get to ccm (church jobs are usually posted in the fall) . . . |
