I know that the temp market in NYC isn't so hot right now...but I am contemplating a move to Chicago in the near future and was wondering what the job/temp market is like in the windy city...

but it's tough right now, period. A lot of staff lay-offs, especially at law firms... Most - all? - have hiring freezes. At my firm, the only temp being hired is a long-time fave, brought in to cover long-term leaves. Otherwise, we don't have floaters on staff. Secretaries cover each other.

Personally, unless you have a healthy savings account or other source of income, I'd make sure you have some kind of work lined up before making the move.
