The brand new Chicago chapter of Opera on Tap is a non-profit seeking singers serious about their music, and about having fun! This is a unique gig where singers choose their repertoire based on the theme of each show, perform in jeans at a bar, and gain experience while introducing new people to classical music and breaking down preconceived ideas about opera. There is no pay, but singers will be eligible to apply for scholarships to help offset the costs of being an aspiring professional musician. We are also looking for a charismatic singer to be our emcee, and any instrumentalists would be welcome!
Please prepare one aria relating to Unrequited Love, (the theme of our first show) if possible, and bring a copy of your music for the accompanist to keep on hand if chosen so that we already have your music for our first show, which will be held at Angelo's Taverna on Wednesday, June 24th at 8:30 PM. After our debut, we'll have one show a month on the third Wednesday of each month. Auditions will be held on June 14th from 2 till 6 at the Fine Arts Building, 410 S Michigan, Studio 634, in downtown Chicago. An accompanist is provided free of charge. For more info, see www.operaontap.com. Please email h/r to erin@operaontap.com along with your preferred time.
