Response to Re: IMPORTANT MESSAGE |

I am actually a muslim american tennis player. I was born and raised here in the states. I was just as disgusted as the next person at the events that took place on september 11th by cowards who wanted to kill thousands of innocent men, women and children. It is my opinion that the appropriate response was to attack the root of the problem, which originated in Afghanistan under the Taliban, the breeding ground for radical and hateful thinking. However, the war in Iraq was completely different. What many people do not realize is that Osama Bin Ladin actually hated Saddam Hussein and offered the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to kill him with the help of 5000 of his own soldiers. The Kingdom rejected the offer.
However, the rhetoric of the Bush Administration links them together as if they were in cohorts...granted they are both evil people. This is my problem with the U.S. response. I firmly believe that we should defend ourselves when necessary, but in my humble opinion this was an unessecary war based on false pretenses that will cause an influx of terrorists who want September 11th to happen all over again, God forbid. So although we are trying to eliminate terrorists, we may have just created a whole new generation of them as a result of our decision to go to Iraq... Secondly and i will make this short, how can we claim to be mediators of the situation in Israel and Palestine when we clearly favor Israel and are extremely biased. This is another point of issue between the rest of the world and the U.S. | |
