I read that they, that is Brown and Co, are to present a medal to former members of the Womens Land Army.
What a travesty of justice to have waited all these years and at this late stage to say thank you for your help during the war .
Most of the girls will have died so I suppose that will save the country some money.
Why am I so annoyed at this action, my late Wife was a land girl in Bourne.
Rex ran an article on the Bourne Web entitled A War Time Dairy Maid in I think the early part of 2004. In this it showed how hard the girls worked. In my Wife's case seven days a week. After a while she got half a day off per week , but the milk round had to be completed before she could go home.
When she finished with the Land Army there was no golden hand shake, just a you are no longer needed on your bike.
What A grateful country ???.
