The Appalling B.B.C. News

I really must get this off my chest! This evening, I tuned into the 6-o-clock news on the B.B.C and what did I get? About five or six minutes of real news and about two or three minutes of the weather forecast. The rest - over twenty minutes - was devoted to the death of a has-been, so-called pop singer. And not just that, he was also a druggie and a child molester. In other words, an absolutely terrible example to our young people. If one of our brave soldiers is killed in the Middle East, it is announced as "A soldier of the Anglian Regiment has been killed in Afghanistan. His family has been informed". Compare that with the sickening sight of people crying their eyes out and acting as though the end of the world had happened. For god's sake, this was a man of little or no talent who was created by the pop world to sell records and who merited no more than a ten second announcement - if that. And worse is to follow. I have no doubt that we will be subjected to a succession of programmes about his life and half a news programme devoted to the nauseating spectacle of his funeral.
