      £39 a year to have a mechanic come out to your aid, wherever you are in the UK, should your car break down doesn't sound like much to me.

      That's what, £3.25 a month?

      When was the last time you called a garage out to you? I bet it cost at least ten times that amount. Modern cars may be considerably more reliable than in days of yore, but painful personal experience over the years has taught me to not have quite so much blind faith in my daily driver. Personally speaking, I'm all for belts and braces.

      And to be perfectly honest, if you're still expecting The Very Nice Man to salute you as you drive by, I suspect you're not entirely living in the 21st century.
