      I think some of the problems are caused by what the police do in particular the so called "kettling" process. The only march, demo, protest or whatever you want to call it I've been on was the Liberty & Livelihood march in 2002. There were 400,000 of us there but the Police were quite benign and made no attempt to corral or kettle us. I guess even the Met are not so stupid as to annoy nearly half a million people.
      A much smaller Countryside Alliance protest in Parliament Square at the end of 2002 was very roughly treated by the police.
