Robert, I abhor tailgating (and any other form of bad driving) as much as you. I just feel that people who own larger vehicles, 4 X 4's etc. are given a totally unjustified bad press. People are free to choose whatever vehicle they wish to own and should not be criticised for exercising that freedom. In fact, with improved technology, many modern cars are much safer than older cars. For instance, if my car senses that I am getting too close to the vehicle in front, it will apply the brakes before any collision occurs. Therefore, it is impossible for me to tailgate, even if I was so stupid as to wish to do so. The insurance world recognise this technology by giving discounts on the insurance of such vehicles. So, please chaps, let's be happy with what we each have and do not be so concerned with what other people own. |
