Geoff says that the scientists of all nations are warning us of sea level rises for the purely selfish reason of making a pile of cash, while big oil and big carbon, who fund the other side, are of course untainted by anything so vulgar as money.
What is more interesting is what we can do about the retreating ice caps, the retreating glaciers, the rising oceans... and there I'm rather pessimistic like Peter John Brough, it seems that if big carbon can keep enough of us believing that it is only a "theory" and that the scientists of all nations are having a collective nervous breakdown, then the public motivation to do anything can be kept in check and we can go to hell in a handcart, so to speak.
Just on a technical point, Geoff should know that the scientists of all nations are well up to speed on the natural forces that shape climate change. That is a wonderful herring you have there (although there is plenty of scope for argument about timescales, proportions, severity, so you do have that point to cling on to, if you wanted to make that point).
