Yeah... I'm trying to do clean colors as draw with the pencil tool... and limit the dithering to a certain amount of colors... I'll have to poke around and try some of these suggestions...
I still draw all of my 8-bit dolls in Claris Works on the Mac. I get a bit limited for what tools can do.... but it's pretty flexible... anything I have trouble with I try fixing in photoshop... and sometimes bringing the graphics back and forth between the programs. It would be really nice if some of the tools in Claris Works had that little two-color option an IBM mouse can use (left click one color, right click erase or another color... depending on what program...)
And too, I'm trying to make things a bit more cartoon-ish... so... the dithering needs to be limited, yet smooth...
