Greyscale?

At the Office Supply store yesterday there was a new pad for signing your name after a credit purchase. It was mostly a mono-color screen with enough detail to see your signature and commands.... I immediately wondered why there aren't more tablets with a little mono-color screen instead of a flat blank pad (so it's hard to tell exactly where in the screen you're trying to coordinate to) or a full color monitor (which is WAY too expensive). Yes, the glass over it feels funny to write on (and the pen line is fairly far down under the glass, but that can be changed with the design), but it's still - I would think - a cheap way to have a visual way of inputting with the pen tool. You could look down and see where your pen was, or even the basic shapes of what you're working on.
