I myself use PSP7 for the same reason. I did figure out how to control palattes in photoshop 6 but I didn't like it as well. I love the ability to save the palatte in PSP7. Its a life saver. That is how I do some of the patterned effects in my kiss sets. However, you will notice that photoshops spray tool and filters are nicer, so I switch them back and forth.
