It's all passing fads. Some fads come back into style. A good way to help a fad you like come back into style is to make a doll in that style yourself. If you do it well, you'll draw admirers who want to emulate that style.
As to "old versus new", where do you draw the line? If you mean "dolls this month" versus "dolls during the previous seven years", it seems an unfair comparison since the "old" dolls would have a lot more to choose from. If you mean "dolls this year" versus "dolls during the previous six years", that might be better since about half to a third of all dolls on the Big KiSS Page were posted during the past year.
