What was the incompetence level?

Well, at least the person claiming to be Sharon Stone picked a nice doll to try and steal. How outrageous was the attempted theft? Was the set at least renamed? Was the Japanese document file in the set, which identifies the artist and name taken out? Were the .cnfs (the set has two) altered? Was the thief able to do anything about the creation dates on the cels - June of 1995 or try to claim s/he had done it seven years ago?

I ask, not intending to give a blueprint to thieves for filing off the serial numbers and repainting the car. The KiSS community is relatively small and enough of us go to sites beyond the BKP that several folk are going to remember a set that has been up at the WKP for years. You have to be fairly stupid to think you can steal a set from anywhere on the web and have it unrecognized. Of course there was the one thief who had been shown a set in advance by the artist, and then sent the set in to the BKP before the real artist did. That thief had to be stupid to think the real artist never looked at the BKP - or any of the other folk to whom the artist had shown the WIP.

I don't think being a thief alone can can explain attempting to steal a KiSS set and pass it off at the biggest KiSS site on the web. I think you have to be pretty dumb as well. I'm just curious how badly this theft was botched. Did the thief make any attempt to change anything - or did s/he just hope everyone else was as incompetent as s/he?
