Here's "teh" meat.

1. Copyright protection is automatic in the United States (IF that is where you are located. Thanks President Clinton!)

2. You made the doll - you own the copyright.

3. Know your registrars. http://www.netsol.com , http://www.directnic.com - try either. You'll want to do a whois.

4. Can't find out who they are? Find out who owns their IP address! That's a surefire way to find their host. Do the following - I'm assuming you run windows -

- Start->Run - type in : "command" (Win95/98/ME)
( For 2000,NT,XP type in "CMD" )

- Type in "ping www.whatevertheirsiteis.com"

You should see something like this:

Pinging www.google.com [216.239.51.101] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 216.239.51.101: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=47

-- The number in brackets is the IP address. Copy-paste it or write it down.

Go to http://www.arin.net - There's a query box in the upper right hand corner of the page. Paste/type that number in (with the dots and all - just as you saw it.) press "Whois" button.

Enjoy the data you have just received. Best bets - the person listed FIRST is who you want to talk to. Contact them first - they are the ones who will be directly responsible as soon as you bring the problem to their attention. USUALLY you'll want to send a message to "abuse@whatevertheirhost'sdomainis.com/net/org/etc" instead of the address listed (i.e. "joeadmin@null.org" - this guy handles the computers - he's not the abuse department... don't bother him

). Be sure to be polite in your messages too! The Abuse dept. is there to help you - they don't need to - but they will. If you say "Hey, get my files down or I'll sue the pants off of you because you have this guy on your server - you slimy bottom-feeding maggot!" ... don't be surprised if the page never comes down.

Messages like that always go to my trash directory (OR they'll be referred to my general-abuse hotmail account for further action, derrogatory comments, and fun ... heh).

Hope I helped. If you need any assistance - I've done everything from basic spam slayings, IP busts, and DMCA reportings ... I could probably give you a hand if you like. My e-mail address is - everything before the "@" is real (superfamicom) - the rest of the domain is (attbi.com). Just put the parentheses together with some glue (@) and you've got yourself the address of one real ... um ... something?

Well methinks I'll go back to my cave. My nearly-overheating pet fek-s4u is waiting for me.
