He studied his surroundings. All around him was noise. Frantic parents trying to control unruly children running around and yelling at the top of their voices. Giggly girls chattering at the top of their voices, happy to be going away. Sobbing parents and friends as the awkward child contemplates an independent life abroad alone. Workers at the check-in counters trying to pacify passengers who insists on wanting window seats, while trying to make sure the luggage were all accounted for.

In other words, it was chaos.

And standing in middle of the chaos, was him, Rukawa Kaede.

He was very tempted to start scowling, just like his redheaded lover was doing right now. Instead, he sighed silently and pulled his bag closer to him as a child ran towards him, almost as if deliberately heading for his bag.

“Do we really have to go through all these?”

Sakuragi Hanamichi’s jaw set. “Yes.”

He kept silent, taking relief at the sight of stoic security guards that seemed out of place with the chaotic scene.

“We both deserve this holiday and you know it, Rukawa Kaede. You can never tear yourself away from work when we’re in Japan and I’m sick of it. I want us to have a good holiday and celebrate Valentine’s Day together for once.”

Rukawa nodded, nudging his bag forward as the queue inched forward.

“Did you hear what I said, Kitsune?” Sakuragi scowled again.

“Yes.”

“Don’t you want us to be together this year?” There was an almost plaintive note in his voice.

He moved forward with the queue again.

“Kitsune…”

He half-turned around. Sakuragi was looking at him with that look again. He sighed and used his free hand to grab the redhead’s hand. “We could have celebrated in Japan.”

Sakuragi huffed. “Don’t give me that. I know you well enough. As long as one foot of yours remains in Japan, we’ll never get more than an hour together in peace.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Really? What about all those times at night when we….”

The large hand clamped tight over his mouth prevented him from saying anything else. He could almost feel the grin tugging at the corner of his mouth at the sight of the blushing redhead.

“Do you want the whole world to know?” He hissed, cautiously removing his mouth.

Rukawa shrugged and nudged his bag forward again. “All our friends know.”

He would have gladly paid anything to capture the look on the redhead’s face. “They all know?”

He shrugged carelessly.

“They all know?” His voice was rising to a screech.

Rukawa wisely kept silent.

“Even Ayako and Haruko knows?” The voice was almost definitely screeching.

“Shhh…”

“And how did they know? My reputation is gone. Haruko will never look at me in the face again…”

He felt the familiar surge of jealousy at the mention of that girl’s name and narrowed his eyes.

“She will never talk to me again. It was bad enough that you didn’t want her, and now, she knows that not only are we always together, we also… we also… we also…”

Amusement was beginning to calm the jealousy down as Rukawa watched Sakuragi struggle for a word to describe their nocturnal, and not always nocturnal, activities.

“We also… we also… ARGH!”

There was the roar he was expecting. He watching, amusement hiking as the frantic parents he had noticed earlier pulled their stunned children close to them, the giggly girls no longer giggling, but staring dumbfounded and the sobbing parents and friends stopped their sobbing to openly stare. Even the workers at the check-in counters were staring. The whole scene was like a movie on pause mode.

Shaking his head slightly, he leant forward and pressed a fond kiss to Sakuragi’s mouth and dragged him forward to the counter. “We’ll like to check in for the flight to Hong Kong.”
