Being wacky is NOT BEYOND REDEMPTION if you don't ride on the backs of widows and WORKING people. If I appeal to the Bible and you appeal to DENOMINATION STANDARDS then one of us is wackier than the other. Eh?

      Alan Morrrison notes:

R.P. Martin says in his interesting book on worship in the early church that the READING and exposition of the Scriptures is

"an inheritance we have received, through the early church, from the worship of Judaism, and which makes the model Christian service a WORD-of-God service".
From the outset, church worship was a "Word-of-God service". The TRUTHS of the Bible were at the heart of worship. And this was also true insofar as the singing of songs was concerned.

[That's why Jesus fired the Doctors of the Law: by definition the CANNOT do what a 12 year old boy could do WITHOUT perverting the WORD and selling sermonic stupidity]

It was the synagogues that remained after AD.70, NOT the Temple! The original purpose of the synagogue was primarily for Scripture-reading and exposition of the passages read (Lk.4:16-22; Mt.13:54; Mk.1:21-22; Jn.6:59).

There was also prayer (Mt.6:5) and, although there is no specific mention in the literature of singing in the synagogue, it is considered most likely "that those parts of the Liturgy which were connected with Temple worship, like the recitation of psalms...were sung"

THEY CALLED IT CANTILLATION:"LIKE A SCHOLL BOY READING THE HALLEL."

So long as one's idea of worship is rooted in the Temple concept, one will crave "celebrations" and big displays. The charismatic style of worship naturally arises out of this false concept of the O.T. Temple.

However, the chief element in synagogue worship -- its central factor -- was not ceremonial or display but something which was of vital importance to the shaping of the subsequent life of the local churches upon which the synagogue was so influential.

That element was the reading and exposition of Scripture.

Worship in the Early Church involved "Word-of-God" services. Ralph Martin very appropriately called the reading and exposition of Scripture "the centre of gravity of the synagogue's service, with the blessings and prayers gathered around it"

Music in the Synagogue: Britannica Members

"The description of the synagogue service above noted the role of the hazzan, or cantor. It is he who READS the service and DECLAIMS the scriptural lessons to certain set musical modes that vary with the season and occasion.

      ==========================
Whenever Paul spoke of those who ASSEMBLED he used a form of the word SYNAGOGUE. Jesus promised to build His Ekklesia and Ekklesia MEANS synagogue even among the Greeks.

Henry George Liddell, Robert Scott, A Greek-English Lexicon

      ekklesia
      I. an assembly of the citizens regularly summoned, the legislative assembly, Thuc., etc.:--at Athens, the ordinary Assemblies were called kuriai, the extraordinary being SUNKLETO ekkl. sunageirein, sunagein, sullegein, athroizein to call an assembly, Heredotos sayd to "to make a HOUSE, "

II. in NTest. the Church, either the BODY, or the PLACE.

      The Greek sunageiro

      1. to gather together, assemble, to gather together, come together, assemble, Il.; SUNAGROMENOI, THOSE assembled, an assembly

sugkletos , on, called together, summoned... invited guests

Under Sunego which Paul uses SUNEGO is often associanted with EKKLESIA.

      USED:

1Co.11:17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye COME TOGETHER not for the better, but for the worse.

1Cor 11:33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye COME TOGETHER to eat, tarry one for another.

      Ja.2:2 For if there come unto your ASSEMBLY a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

Sunagoge (g4864) soon-ag-o-gay'; from (the REDUPL) form of) 4863; an assemblage of persons; spec. a Jewish "synagogue" (the meeting or the place); by anal. a CHRISTIAN CHURCH - assembly, congregation, synagogue.

Sunago (g4963) soon-ag'-o; from 4862 and 71; to lead together, i.e. collect or convene; spec. to entertain (hospitably): - / accompany, assemble (selves, together), bestow, come together, gather (selves together, up, together), lead into, resort, take in.

      USED:

Ac.11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto ANTIOCH. And it came to pass, that a whole year they ASSEMBLED themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Ac.15:30 So when they were dismissed, they came to ANTIOCH: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

Ac.20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples (TROAS) came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

1Co.5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are GATHERED together (CORINTH), and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

It seems that it is WACKO to deny that the CHURCH WAS NEVER. The EKKLESIA could mean the PEOPLE or the PLACE. However, a form of SYNAGOGUE always defined the ASSEMBLY OF THE PEOPLE.

Because God was careful to use TWO TERMS not remotely related to WORSHIP in our sense of the Word, so that we probably couldn't make a mistake unless were were, like Nimrod, using MUSICAL WORSHIP TEAMS to promise people "regeneration through external means."

I hear it all the time: you are a wacko legalist because you USE the Bible to prove your point. The new PROPHETS, CHANELLERS AND FACILITATORS claim that THEIR hallucinations TRUMPS the Word of God. And that is where the MEGA-CHURCHES are: Build one and Satan will come.

Old body, young mind, not delusional: can still obey Paul and "teach the Word as it has been taught." Elders have no other POWER but to rebuke those who oppose the Word "as it has been taught."

It seems to me that the ONLY thing those who ASSEMBLED for Bible study was called would translate SYNAGOGUE.

Maybe you are speaking ORANGES and I am still speaking APPLES. That is why it is impertive to "call bible things by bible names"so we don't get involved in this SPEAKING IN TONGUES.

    ...........................THE BOOK

What Happened At the Madison Church of Christ?

There are thousands of churches being taken over across America.

This book is only about one of those churches. It's about the Madison Church Of Christ. By studying the methods used here along with the resource references you might be able to inoculate your church. At the very least you will recognize the signs early on.

Many of the current members of the Madison Church of Christ still don't know what happened.
Some never will know! This book is for them as well.

Madison Church of Christ was a 60 year old church. At one time it was one of the largest churches in the US, and the largest Church of Christ.

It thrived for many years on the vision of it's elders and those of it's ministers. Those visions undoubtably came from the the inspired word of Jesus Christ.

At sometime in the last 10 years there was a deliberate plan by a majority of the elders to take the Madison Church of Christ into a more worldly realm.

They used secrecy, covert planning, and outside sources to scheme and to change the format and direction of the Madison Church of Christ.

The Elders knew that the membership would never approve such a plan. Using the tools of the "Community Church Movement"(consultants, books, seminars, meetings, planters, seeders) they slowly started initiating change so it was never noticed by the members until it was too late.....

At the heart of the plan was the fact that old members were going to be driven off so new techniques could be used to go out and reach the unchurched through new "Contemporary Holy Entertainment" methods developed by the "Community Church Movement"

Old members had to be kept on board long enough to get their plans ready, or the funds would not be there to pay for the new building. So by the plans very nature, it had to be secret.

The church had no plan in effect to renew or approve elders. There was never any need. The elders had always been "as approved by God". 10 of the last 15 elders would begin to shed some doubt on that.

The Elders did not even need a majority at first, because some of the elders went along unwittingly.

This edition starts shortly after some of the members begin to smell something strange in January 2001. Later editions may go back and fill in some of the timeline.

To even start to understand whats happening here, you must read the background materials in the first of the book.

This is only the first edition, and not the end. New editions will be printed as needed. To keep abreast of current changes, please visit our web site; http://www.concernedmembers.com/madison

    Here is the list of players;
