First off I have raced Daytonas, and Bud, your full of it. A stocl Turbo will not even win. If you crank the PSI on the Turbo to like 14 yes you will win one race agains a 2.8, and maybe a trashed 305, but you will not win agains a TPI car.
My friend jason has iroc daytona that is bad. He has bumpped up psi to 15, worked head over, 3" exhaust no muffler, gutted interior for weight saving. This is just a small list of things he has done much more. Larger injectors and fuel pump, custom computer and fuel pressure regulator. He has $500 less into his than mine. This car kills my 350 tpi. Its still stock though. Perhaps 6 inch rods and supercharger are in order!?
i agree with these other guys,there is no way,with a stock daytona that you have any real hope of"RAPING"any z-28 with a worn out 305 or not.I just happen to have an '83 z with a very mild 350 that has earned bragging rights for laying some smack to somepretty fast cars including my buddy and his shelby turbo,,,he lost by 4 car lengths.but what do I know,i'm just a dumb canadian.

Second come on down and I dare you to race my 86 305 TPI camaro. I guarantee I will spank your 4 banger mopar small turbo all over any street here. Dont come in here actin like your some kind of big and bad 4-banger owner who thinks he can beat a Camaro. Your just some punk who watched fast and the furious to many times. Just because your lucky enough to have IROC grace the side of your gay daytona that u can beat a actual IROC-Z Camaro. Also dont even attempt to think that your car is fast cause you have a turbo. Those turbos are so small that you'd be lucky to get it to run right on a 3-banger geo metro.

I have a 91 305 TPI Z/28. My boyfriend has an 89 Shelby Daytona (turbo). Both our cars stock running against eachother the daytona had nothing on my car.. He has done alot of upgrades and mine is still pretty stock, he ran a 15.5, and now our cars are running pretty equal. He now wants to trade the daytona in for a "Slowmaro".

My friend has a laser which is a step up from the daytona, but it's still a four-banger. His car is totally stock. His car can kick almost every 305 and down in town. It's a sport compact but it does have balls. He is pushing almost 225 HP. Of course he has a turbo and he has 141,xxx miles on it but it still keeps up with the best of them.
I find Daytonas to be great cars. You can easily get a turbo II to 200hp, in a 2900lb car and they have good trans. If your Camaro doesnt have a 350 you might just lose to a Daytona. I plan to own a Shelby Daytona in the future. I know my Camaro stock has 150hp with around 240tq, id be destroyed by a Daytona, lol.
My son has a Shelby Daytona,2.2L Manual, Turbo and my IROC-Z with the TPI 350 CID spanks his 2900lbs of Dodge all over the pavement. He is so pissed that now its for sale, CHEAP!

did you know that there are around 7 engine options for Daytonas?? That Shelby would have around 150hp. Some Daytonas push +174hp with a dinky turbo and small intercooler. Not bad. Theres even a IROC Daytona with 225hp, which just has a different cam and pistons. These cars would get wasted by a 350, but 305's may have a tough time winning.
