IROC build dates

I looked at a 84 Camaro Z28 today that had IROC decals on the side. From the info on this site, I see that they weren't built till 85. Was this true for ones that were built in Canada? or could this be a "late production 84 (actual build date 85). I used to have a 68RS Convert & I know that in that year some came with the 67 shifter if they were early production. (I guess they didn't have the right years parts).

How do I tell if this is a "real" IROC or one that someone just stuck some decals on.

Get me the VIN # off the car. I will search it and see if it works for an Iroc.

Thanks for the offer, but this car is 800 miles away from me. Had a buddy who lives there go & take the car to his mecanic to check it out. On the way to the mecanic the rear tire came off & went rolling down the highway, causing the car to go down on the rear disc....needless to say there was a bit of damage & I'm not interested in buying it now. Would have loved to see the salesmans face when my buddy walked back into the dealers & handed them the keys back

LOL. I would love the see the sale mans face to. It would be some funny I wonder how he explained it. I would probably say you know you should really check the lugnuts on these cars, theres a lot of tire kickers here and there starting to get lose on some cars.

Went to look at amother car today....an 85.....it was out in the country. Decided to drop in & see my ex bro-in-law while out there. Turns out that another friend was storing his 74 Z28 there, it's been sitting for 15 yrs...needs some work, but is all original....to make a long story short....it's all mine now

84 1/2 IROC

Yes there was Iroc,s in 84. One way to tell, look at the rear bumper, where it normally says for TPI cars TunedPortInjection, it will say with RAISED LETTERING 5.0HO HighOutput. Now these cars were built in mid year 84, and I believe that they were titled as 85. I have seen a yellow Iroc that had this badge on the bumper. Also, I know that these Iroc,s were 5spd,s. Something else, I purchased a 86 Iroc new in October of 85. Now, in 1989, I was in the process of converting my 86 305TPI 700r4 slug into a 1le, so, I went to what was then KLINE Chevy parts and purchased all related parts. (thats along story) Anyways, I needed a purchase a rear badge that said TunedPortInjection, well, the parts guy looked up the part, and as he pulled the padge up, it showed a picture of all rear badging for Camaros, TunedPortInjecton, 5.7TunedPort, You get the Idea, well, low and behold I saw a 5.0HighOutput badge Now this was raised lettering. I know about the 83 and 84 z28,s had a decal that said 5.0Highoutput. I hope this helps. Thanks

THERE WAS NO 84 IROC....the 5.0 HO badge is just that ,an engine designation badge.
