I am an F body junkie who once owned a 1982
Cross fire Pace car, and an opportunity has
presented itself to purchase a supposed 1992 B4C
Interceptor, with the L98 5.7.
Was wondering if you can tell me how I can distinguish
this as the real thing, and not just an RS with an L98
transplanted under the hood and disk brakes all around?
Is there anything in the VIN that specifies a B4C? Is there
a such thing as an L98 5.7 with a manual trans? Was A/C
available with a B4C? Does the motor come with siamesed
intake runners and headers? (have read that at several
Camaro sites)
Any info you provide would be greatly appreciated, since
I am in Quebec, Canada and if this is a real B4C it is
certainly a rare find over here.
George, It is my understanding that a 350 TPI was never available with a 5spd. A/C was available with a B4C option. Not sure about the VIN. Friend of mine has a 92 B4C RS with 3600 miles that he is going to sale. He has the window sticker laminated from when he bought it new. His is a L98/auto, 4 wheel disc, oil cooler etc.
The B4C was the code that the police used for highway patrol cars. Some came with 5spds. I know this because I almost bought one, but got the highway patrol Mustang instead since it was cheaper.
COINCIDENTALLY, B4C is a name for plastic explosives !!
