i have a 92 camaro rs with a 383. the problem i am having is when i put the pedal to the metal, my car hesitates and putts. it wont take off like it normally would and it runs fine if i just gradually increase speed i can get up to 80mph with no problem but when i try to step on it to pass another car and make a lane change it doesnt want to pick up and go. could it be my fuel pump, a sensor or what? any suggestions would be very helpful. thanks.

sounds like to me that your timing isnt right or you have a air leak going to your carb.

maybe a vacum leak

if its a 383 it definitly not original. what about the distributor? is it the stock computer advance or the older vacum advance type. If it is computer advace there is your problem, but if it is vacum advance distributor you will want to check and see of the vacum advace is good. To so that pull the hose off the carb and suck it to find resistance. If it holds that isnt your problem.you may want to check the advace weights located under the rotor in the distributor. the both need to spring back when opened. also check the distributor cap for cracks, if it has cracks it will cross fire and not run right.if you checked every thing i said and still nothing check you timing. if still nothing looks like carburation problems.
