I just bought a 89 RS, it came with a 2.8 origionally but i'm tossing it, going to put a 400 small block in it, or die trying but my question is, along both sides of the windshield I have holes rusting through the sheet metal. I live in the south, along the gulf of mexico so we have alot of rain and high humidity. What worries me is that someone has at one point gone in and tried to fix these spots with somekind of filler, i'm no body man but i think its fibraglass resin or something. Its a lot harder than the bondo they but smoothed everything over with. Anyway, all along the sides of the front windshield its starting to bubble up. These are all new holes that have rusted out under the bondo. Also in the process of taking the paint off and finding these places, i come across places that have two layers of paint. Like I sand through one top colored layer, through a primer, then there is another painted layer the same color as the top coat. Is this normal? in the places i have the obvious body work, i dont find the double layers. so, to wrap this up, are these holes enough to make me drop this project of turning this RS into a showroom ass kicking queen?
I've always been in love with the looks of these cars, and now that i have enough money to buy a car just to play around with i want the best looking car i can think of, and thats always been a 3rd gen F body. |
