i bought a camaro 1984 whit pretty good engine and trans, it was wreck on passenger side, the chasis was bent, i took the car to a body shop and the treat was that they would re-aling the chasis, if i have the car all apart( remove fenders, front bumper, doors, hood, motor and tans. they "re-aling" the chasis but the procedure they use damaged another parts ( floors, rocker pannels, front railframe welds on top anf bottom and the LH rail frame just behind the gear box mount holes) the problem is that when i turn the steering weel sometimes it does not do it, and i can hear the metal motion, actualy i can see when the rail frame swings if someone plays just a little whit the steering wheel. i tried to bols a reinforcements to the frame rail but it just bakes the connectors or make the holes that i use to mount the reinforcements. a friend told me that i have to weld a 1/4" steel plate behind the power steering box uiside the rail frame. i went to another body shop, they told me that the problem involves to remove the engine and trans and the front end suspension and if i do that i will have to pay only $1200 us dollars, and when they have finished i can set everithing back on. it is expensive i think, then i bought a welder machine and i will do it my self, and i want to add some subframe reinforcements, etc.
if some one can helpme whit information about it would be great. any comments are welcome and thank you to the guys that make posible web sites like this.
