Gaelic repays some of that borrowed sugar

by nemesis

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!! Will wonders never cease??? I'll be late tonight so, after pleading and begging and sobbing and weeping and getting on my knees and tugging on her skirt, gaelic has graciously agreed to fill in for me for the first hour or so of my stream tonight. She always plays some of the world's best music. Gaelic will start streaming at 9 and afterwards, I'll be playing an unhealthy mixture of rock, pop, country, bluegrass, folk, humor, etc. until the witching hour. Everyone is invited to join us for the big double-header tonight at Hilltop Chat and request songs, meet a great bunch of people or just hang out.

by Just Me

That hospital rumour gets passed around every year just about this time, after they have passed the Joint Commission inspections.
I don't know why, just that it did when I worked for them..it did last year ..and here we go again.
Or maybe it just took last years rumour a while to get to Tennessee ( is that where Big Man is? )

Not Tenn, I live in Virginia

by Big Man

I heard this 'story' while I was at the Veterans Hospital in Johnson City, TN. It was told to me by a nurse that had a cousin in Pike County who lost their job because of the takeover.

Maybe, I have been taken on a verbal ride, I don't know. If this isn't true, then I am sorry that I even mentioned it.

Big Man is back home!!!

by Dakota

Big Man went to the VA hospital and stayed 2 weeks of the six weeks program. He became very weak while there. He has been put on blood thinners and he has an irregular heart beat. Word has it that he will have to have the heart beat corrected before he can finish the program.
Sorry to hear about your heart problems, ole friend.

by

I will be taking a brief hiatus from the board. Both computers I use to post are sort of open access...in any case, my board friends can contact me at my e-mail address or visit my website for news. Please be advised if anyone posts using my name after this, it isn't me. But before I go...I have a book signing with three other authors at BOOK NOTES book store in the Town and Country Shopping Center on July 20th. 1:00-? Other authors are: John Sparks and Bryan Auxier. Mr. Sparks is a preacher and a fantastic writer, who has written a biography published by UK Press. Mr. Auxier has a lovely children's book about dragons, beautifully illustrated, which my daughter adores. The other writer has a cook book and I'm afraid I don't know her. I believe we have a fabulous story teller coming to the event as well to entertain your small children. Hope you can make it....

We had a peaceful weekend...........

by Gerri

spent on this mountain. We locked the gate on Friday evening and it wasn't unlocked until Monday morning, but we were here napping, watching tv, eating all kinds of fattening foods, watching cows, and playing with the outside "babies". It felt soooooooo good!

I took hubby to the dr. yesterday. He needed an antibiotic shot for inner and outer ear infection and tonsilitis. We went while we were there and picked up a ton of feed, went to the grocery store.... all the chores that we should have done over the weekend.

Hillbilly Hal and Fireworks

by Waver

Hey there Hillbilly Hal I don't know exactly where you live in Tn, but someone was telling me that they have a great fireworks show down in Knoxville around Labor Day. They said it was Boone's Day celebration or something. They were going on and on about how pretty those fireworks are. Have you been or know what they're talking about?

"BOOMS DAY" ON LABOR DAY, KNOXVILLE

by

Tis' quiet a show. This hillbilly usually stays here on the farm near Maryville with his best friends- the dogs, family ect. You know... how us hillbillies are about crowds. We just don't fit in. <G>
Seriously, It's a big event. All kinds of big boats, with those rich & famous folk. They come to frolic on the TN River during the event where they always have a 'birds-eye' view. Sort of reminds one of the VOL NAVY during football season. Gee, I'll have to wash my mouth out after saying VOLS. I'm BIG BLUE all the way.
"Come on down." "The price is right." Cheaper than the Gatlinburg, and the Pigeon Forge circuit for sure. You all would enjoy it.

ONE MAN'S ADVICE FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY...

by

As we go out to celebrate our freedom on the 4th of July, we should all learn a few things to make your celebration a success. There seems to be a large number of old fashioned citizens, who are not familiar with a few new protocols for celebrating our freedom.

Don't use any illegal fireworks in your 4th Celebration.
It is for your own safety.

Make sure you are buckled up in your seat belts, there will be roadblocks and checkpoints to make sure you comply. It is for the children.

If you are a Worldcom or Enron former employee, lighten up for the holiday, you can always look for a job tomorrow.

Don't mention any religious principle if celebrating on any public property.
Government is G-d there. You will be apprehended.

Have your papers ready as you approach the holiday police checkpoints.

Don't criticize the President or other government officials, you might be in violation of the Patriot Act and considered a possible terrorist.

Don't mention the Constitution in any district court or you could be held in contempt.

If your children misbehave, this holiday, do not discipline them, or they may be kidnapped by the Dept. of Social Services and held hostage until you receive approved psychological therapy and are deemed acceptable.

Show compassion this Independence Day by bringing an illegal immigrant to your celebration or by hugging a tree.

If an election is occurring in your locality within the next 90 days, do not talk about or publicly support any candidate, as that is no longer lawful. Keep your mouth shut.

If an officer asks to search your vehicle at the "seat belt" checks, do not be belligerent and demand a search warrant. Standing up for your fourth amendment rights is anti-social and not in tune with the new American way. Are you with Al Quada or something?

Do not get upset when the searching officer will not help you pick up your belongings that he has strewn all over the highway as he searched your vehicle. It is not in his job description and complaining will get you charged with obstructing justice.

Be happy that official sources have informed us that The IRS is now doing many fewer audits; that are purely retaliation for political opposition to the President.

Keep your guns at home. You are not going hunting and besides, What on earth do guns have to do with American Independence? Better yet, turn your guns into the authorities to let them know that you are a true patriotic American.

If celebrating at the mall in Washington DC. you are probably safe as the mall is now monitored by hundreds of surveillance cameras, watched by federal security forces. Don't do anything that you wouldn't want them to see.

Bring lots of cash with you, there will be many taxes, fines, and fees to pay as you celebrate your freedoms this day.

Do not leave home without your driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, welfare card, medicare card, medical records, W-2 Form, and two others forms of ID. You may be asked for them at the police checkpoints.
Better yet, get micro-chipped, and avoid the hassle of carrying around your papers.

Bring your library card, the FBI may ask you for it.

If traveling by air this Independence Day, do not give the airport screeners a hard time. They are feeling you up and molesting your daughter and wife for the security of America. If you complain you could be arrested. You don't support Bin Laden do you?

Keep an eye on your fellow Americans as you celebrate this 4th of July. If you see anything suspicious, take notes so that when you get home you can call and report them to the Homeland Security Office. And remember you are not a nosey snitch, you are a great American Patriot.

Do not mention the signers of the Declaration of Independence this 4th of July. Mentioning these white subversive terrorists is not popular and could get you in big trouble. Besides what do these guys have to do with the 4th of July anyway?

Do not leave home without one or more little plastic American flags made by political slaves in Communist China. Make sure you have one flying from the antennae of your vehicle. You don't want to seem un-American do you?

Do not take a copy of the Declaration of Independence with you as it advocates the overthrow of tyrannical government. It is a terrorist document and will be confiscated at the holiday police checkpoints. Same advice for the Constitution.

And remember, as you leave home for your 4th of July outing, that the second you stepped out of your door that you probably broke hundreds of federal, state, and local laws that you are probably unaware of. However, if you tow the line, you will not be charged, this year.

Now go out and celebrate your independence,
and have a great Independence Day!
Please enjoy any freedom that you still have.

None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free.
Our forefathers are crying.
Our forefathers are angry.
Our forefathers are loading their muskets and heading for The Green.

Amen!

by

As a teacher and parent, I agree. I am a very open-minded, tolerant, liberal person, but I have to say this crosses the line for me. I have never required my students to say the pledge. They do by choice after I go into detail about the history of the flag and our country and the people who have died defending both. This country was established UNDER GOD and that is how we honor it. Anyone coming into our school systems know that. It is the very nature of our country that gives us freedom to choose. They can choose to stay or leave. They can choose to send their children to another school or home school them.

why don't you use one of your newspaper columns to discuss old timers ways of treating the sick etc. I know you have a granny about as old as mine and I think it is wonderful to sit and listen to them tell of this and that what they used for cures instead of the tradition meds of today. Welfare........

by Gerri

I come for visit, get treated regal,
So I stay, who care I illegal?

I cross border, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.

Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.

Welfare say, "You come no more,
We send cash right to your door."

Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep you healthy!

By and by, I got plenty money,
Thanks to you, American dummy.
Write to friends in motherland,
Come to America as fast as you can.

They come in rags and Chebby trucks,
I buy big house with welfare bucks.

They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it gets better!

Fourteen families they moving in,
But neighbor's patience wearing thin.

Finally, white guy moves away,
Now I buy his house, and then I say,

"Find more aliens for house to rent."
And in the yard I put a tent.

Send for family (they just trash),
But they, too, draw the welfare cash!

Everything is mucho good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.

We have hobby-it's called breeding,
Welfare pay for baby feeding.

Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free! We got no bills!

American crazy! He pay all year,
To keep welfare running here.

We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the white man race.

If they no like us, they can go
Got lots of room in Mexico

He keeps our beef that we eat on another farm. We buy the feed and another guy feeds it when he feeds his own.

Hubby gets too attached to animals. There are some here now that I couldn't eat. I started feeding pretty regular last year....and I couldn't see eating Teena, Sonny, Cher, or.......

We didn't really know we would be able to see the fireworks..the girls were out town and Bob kept watching to see if we could see it...and lo and behold it was just like being on the bleachers (except I had my nightgown on and didn'thave to worry about anyone taking my lounge chair)!

An (early) 4th of July greeting to all....

by ccg

Gerri - haven't talked to you in a while - will know something definite on the situation we talked about on Wed. July 10th - he is holding up better than we are - sorry you & Dennis are having so many problems - guess that comes with the territory, right? Hope you guys get to do something really nice/relaxing on the 4th - and I DO NOT mean work the hay field! How is F/Ranger - tell her "hey"! Hillbilly Hal & Lois - I will get around to answering your emails - thank you so VERY much for your prayers - I don't think we can ever under-estimate the power of someone being lifted up in prayer, do you? Shawna - they asked at the library when is the sequel coming out? I told them you teach, have two daughters, a husband..etc....and they were like "Gosh, I don't see how she got the first one written". Like you said, the words just seemed to roll off the pages. Know what I remembered most - how guys used to carry your books for you - is that a thing of the past?? I asked my two teenagers and they just rolled their eyes. Hope Big Man is doing alright - maybe someone there will let him have access to a computer if he behaves himself..lol...we just had a terrible storm - lasted almost two hours - my newly graded/graveled road has a gully about two feet deep right down the middle. Have a Happy & Patriotic 4th - be thankful for our freedom and for those who aren't with us because they are out there defending it so that we can continue to be the "Land of the Free"....

I was doing some book-work and trouble shooting for the cable today. The power co. had cut a tree, unplugged one of our amps and had several off. Now the power is off a couple places and several tv's off. The joys of being in business......

I haven't heard from Big Man, nor have I been out to run into his wife. We went to Norton/WIse the other day, but I was in a hurry.....in and out of Parks-Belk and K-Mart and home.

I ourgrew all the shorts that I had bought for this summer and had to go get more. I hadn't even gotten to wear the ones that I had bought at Easter.....and had to go buy more! That's frustrating!!!!

I bought one outfit in the Spring...turned around and bought the same outfit Sunday in 2 sizes larger! No wonder I'm on Zoloft!

No use to feel bad.....

by Gerri

actually it feels good to breathe again instead of wearing all long tee-shirts with your shorts half unzipped and the tops turned down. I know my dryer HAS to get too hot!!! Otherwise......no...I'm not going to tell a lie like that. LOL

Great, tell David who you are. Thanks for the compliment about him. Don't you think he looks alot like his Dad?

Son and Dad

by Waver

He is the pure image of his father but I can see your facial features also. I did the same I stayed on my back deck and seen the most wonderful fireworks this year I think alot of people got a few extra and nice ones due to the 911 event. They were pretty.

The prettiest I ever saw was in Detroit in 1976....

by Gerri

The very last one was an American Flag. I was so impressed.

David also has alot of his Dad's actions.
