Did you know that our local school system get more money than the ones down state? It is true. The Pike county system gets unmined minerals tax money and the others don't. Why are our schools lagging behind the others? I believe it is because the money is used inappropriately. They have now hired so many administrators that they can't house them in the administration building. All over the county, administrators are housed in classrooms in the locals school buildings. Now Mr. Welch is always talking about a declining enrollment, why do we need more people to administrate a shrinking system?
the kids of the administrators have grown up and need a high paying job too.
Well, I have lots of opinions on the subject, but I'd better keep them to myself. One I will say, though, is they have to measure the paperwork teachers must do to see if it will reach the moon yet.....!!! I think theyre almost there**
I think that the administrators jobs should go to exceptional teachers as they are nearing the end of their career. No matter how much you love your job, you lose the energy it takes to do this job well. However, these same people could offer a wealth of advice, and they understand how you feel, because they've been there. It just kills me to see these 20 something people who've spent 3-5 years at the most standing up in front of a group of experienced teachers and tell them what to do. You should teach at least 10 years in a regular classroom, not a Title 1 job or some other pie job before becoming an administrator.
you are right on the money, molly...
can anyone tell me who is the blonde that teaches at john creek she drive a silver bmw and she's hot help me out

good grief!
and we don't know we're just talking to each other
goodnight & sweet dreams - maybe we will dream about each other (or ourselves) - who the heck knows or cares??
good night
Can anyone tell me where all the money is going from the lottery. They say education, then how come they don't even have money to give them their annual raise. Then there Senior Citizens now what have they reaped from the lottery. I think someone is getting rich from the lottery and it sure isn't the citizens of Kentucky Can anyone tell me where its going?
I know I'm concerned with the salary increases because I'm not tenured and am wondering whether I'll be rehired next year if they have to make personnel cuts to pay for mandatory teacher raises. My question is classrooms are crowded enough already. What are they going to do with the 32 children in my room? And students of the other teachers who could lose their jobs?
the first year I taught school, I had 39 children in my room. We all survived it but I wouldn't want to do it again. Of course, that was nearly 30 years ago.
Like you said Big Man that was 30 years ago, don't you know how hard it is to teach the kids today. If the kids were the same kids they were 30 years ago there would be no probably with 50 in a room.
I know exactly what you mean. And no, I would not go back into the classroom, nowdays, even if only 10 children were there. My wife still teaches but I retired several years ago. I feel sorry for teachers and educators, their hands are tied, and they can't do anything about it. My hat is off for all of you.
Even when I was in grade school we were much better behaved and had respect for our elders. Today few children do. They backtalk constantly. Children will say, "I can't be spanked and I'd love it if I got sent home for 3 days." Others say, "My parents don't care what I do." The sad thing is, sometimes it's true.
That's why I no longer care to teach. You know, it isn't the children that are the problem, its parental apathy.
I am teaching in Florida. Boy, is it rough. It's a shame when you see kids that were crack babies due to their parents. Also, we have 7th and 8th graders that are strung out on drugs and I, personally have seen kids with bank rolls as thick as my fist. I am sure it is not their weekly allowance.
I hate to hear of kids getting messed up like that....at any age.
Steel Magnolias starts Friday!
I hope to see you there..or I hope that you SEE ME!

I love the movie. I think my 10 year old would like to see it performed. She took acting classes at PC under Basil Clark and loved it.
Booth Auditorium Pikeville College
Friday @ 8:00
Saturday @ 8:00
Sunday @ 2:00
I'm planning on beinging there.
WERE YOU THERE?
I wasn't there, but wish I could have been.
in a play. Friday is never a day that I can plan anything, but if I possibly can, I will be there.
There's always Saturday and Sunday's matinee
times. Fridays are hectic here.
I'll try to make one. WIth our business, I can't PROMISE anything though.
What kind of business, Gerri? I'm right behind you on the site today....note the time.
mind and body I think. Ha. We're in the cable tv business.
cause I'm back again...right behind you
My baby fell earlier and cut her lip inside badly. It looks pretty deep where she bit her lip...I'm looking up first aid info....could they do anything at the er you think?
when the car seat wouldn't fit in Daddy's car to Pikeville. I just had the seat belt around it......anyway 24 years ago. I had to hit the brake hard and he hit the CB radio in the car. I rushed him to ER. They laughed at me and asked me why I brought that baby in there for a fingernail scratch. His little blanket was covered with blood. I was scared to death.
Do you have any steri-strips? You may want to try that.
I do hope she is okay. They will have many bumps and falls. I stayed black and blue...still do and have no idea where they come from.
to keep swelling down....I think they told me (many years ago) that unless the teeth come all the way thru to the outside they don't do a stitch...hope the little one is all well soon.
We let her drink ice water from her bottle until it washed away enough of the blood and stopped the bleeding. it looks better but still jagged and big for a cut on the lip. she didn't cry long though. it takes a lot to phase her. it swelled a little. i do worry about infection.
yes, i've been laughed at too. with the first baby...i'm harder to fool with this one, but it still scares you
when one gets hurt. Maybe you can try some triple-antibiotic ointment and steri-strips (a life-saver).
I'm glad she's okay.
the cut is internal...is there anything you can use internally? it's almost on the gumline.
is that her saliva would be the best healer. Just don't give her potato chips (or the like) for a couple days. The salt probably wouldn't feel too good and the chips are hard and could reopen the wound if a piece scratched it.
I just emailed her with basically the same info. Could this be one of those "great minds think alike" instances??
Since I have a baby to make arrangements for, I have to ask...how long will the play last? I sure hope I can take my 10 year old to see it. It would also be nice to go with my mom. We both really liked the movie. Especially the mother/daughter story line because it reminded us of us. ![]()
About 2 hours I would think
There is a 10 minute intermission.
We have had one diaster after another..now we have NO props people and have to do it ourselves before the
next scene..oh well "That which does not kill us, only makes us stronger"
Do theater people still say that? My college roomie was into acting and I used to say "good luck" just to watch her get dramatic on me.
Whichever it is, have a great show!
Yes they still say 'break a leg' but not to me..they know that I am so clumsy I may do just that!

HEY GERRI,
BIG MAN CAME FOR A VISIT WITH HIS FAMILY YESTERDAY AND ITS WAS A WONDERFUL VISIT. I WAS ASKING HIM ABOUT WHO YOUR DAD WAS AND HE TOLD ME. I KNOW YOU DAD. HE MR. ROWE THE PREACHER RIGHT? FINE PERSON. I'M SURE YOU ARE THE SAME. HOW IS YOUR DAY GOING?
to a preacher. No, everyone always thought he was, even at school. He is just real religious (Holiness) and I was brought up in a strict but very loving home. To me, he's still the best! Thanks for the compliment. Daddy is always on the road and many people know him.
There were many times my brothers and me thought he was a preacher! Ha. How do you know him? Curious....
I'm really glad that you and Big Man had a good visit. He is in a good family. I hope he was feeling better.

Hey at least Village Voice and Dakota are on my side.
You say Dakota is on your side? E-mail me! ![]()
For the life of me, I don't seem to be able to remember what DAJ-TN might be referring to. LOL
Yea, Dakota is my side and she knows it.
Dakota is a "she"?
Hey Gerri have you figured Big Man out yet?
I know BIG MAN. I just don't know Dakota.
We really enjoyed our visit. We talked about it most of the way back home.
WE SURE ENJOYED HAVING YOU, CHECK YOUR EMAIL THIS MORNING.
Does anyone know of any German Shepards for sale or to give away. I would like to know about them.
I know where a Golden Retreiver is one year old.
But I would rather have a German Shepard
I saw on the channel 5 (Gearheart Communication) that someone had german sheppard mix puppies to give away
did anyone else?? Mine had a virus along with it. Just wondering.
Yes I got a blank one from her also, but everything seems to be ok. There was nothing in the attachment
kicked on, so I didn't know if the email was blank or they had deleted it, since it said it detected a virus. I had seen several posts on DCDB to beware of blank emails so I was sort of leery of it. Thanks for letting me know that yours was empty, too.
Sorry, that was supposed to warn you about a virus from a Budweiser frogs screensaver and not to open it. I don't know what went wrong.
I had also gotten one from a local lady that is a friend. Hey, it happens. Heaven knows I've had my share of viruses. I deleted the one from Fern and Shawna. I didn't try to open the attachments.
what was the title of that e-mail, by the way? my computer didn't detect any virus....the e-mail itself was just about a virus...a warning
No title,....... other than like a reply to a message that had no subject.
I don't understand how I opened it and nothing happened to my computer. Some people have e-mailed me back and said they opened it and nothing happened to theirs either.
because mine said "read immediately" and that wasn't what someone else said theirs had as the subject - anyway, no harm done.
I am really interested in the Pike Co. District One magistrates race. I live in Dist One..and don't have a clue who is running or anything and goodness do we need some help down here. The last fellow didn't do much of nothing except slide around my questions and go out to lunch from the looks of him!
If anyone knows ANYTHING please Post it on here
Thank you so much!
THE GREAT CHOICE IN THAT AREA I THINK IS JEREMIAH ELSWICK. HE WILL BE THE BEST FOR THE JOB.
Okay so what are his qualifications for the job?
Who is he...age, native, family?
Info is very welcome here
He is in his mid 20's, He is the grandson of Kelsy Friend and he knows how to get things done.He is employed as an Asst. Super. at Mt Water and is very well qualfied for the job. He will give up his job and work full time as your service. It will be a breath of fresh air for your district and I'm sure he wouldn't be out to lunch all the time.
I'm from district 3 but from watching the meetings on TV, My impression from watching him is that he is capable and intelligent.
I see you didn't get any answer regarding this race. Maybe people just figure that no matter who wins..nothing is positive will come from it.
It seems that they also skirted around the issue of this Elswick person too...maybe he has no quailifications..you don't have to be qualified to be a magistrate..you just have to have enough money to get your face on a Billboard.
I really don't know this person so I can not attest to his character or anything else concerning him.......maybe someone will answer that knows him.
Just received a letter in the mail from Randall Good campaigning for Judge. Mr.Good has been doing the Judges job for the last four years and where has it gotten us? Maybe Mrs Gibson would have been a better judge if she would have not let Mr. Good take over.Or was this her intention anyway.
I DON'T VOTE BECAUSE OF THE CROOKED SYSTEM, BUT I KNOW YOU SAY IF I DON'T VOTE AND SHOULDN'T HAVE AN OPINION ON ANYTHING BUT HEY THAT'S WHY WE HAVE FREEDON OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think I know him.
Personally, I would like to see Wayne Rutherford have it back.
He is from the Grapevine Kimper area. It doesn't matter to me who is in there as long as they work for the best for the people of the county.
I was just curious where he was from.
I Second THAT!
Why? I'd like to know who actually would be the best person, and I do vote. I also believe a if a person pays taxes they can gripe all they want whether they vote or not.
NO TRUER WORDS WERE EVER SPOKEN!!
I don't vote in KY anymore. I used to dabble in politics a little when I was married to my first husband, but that was many years ago.
My family is in KY and vote....I still have a little influence with them.
Sure I agree that the best person for the county needs the job.
Including a lot of dedications to posters on area boards. ![]()

were all over the road today. It wasn't too bad this morning, but several small ones all over the road this afternoon around 3 p.m. It scares me to death to drive through there.
I wonder how many will have to be killed through there before the state decides to drill, shoot and cage that area? ![]()
I met several that I felt had been to the Breaks for dinner. If I lived in Pike COunty still...you couldn't have given me a free dinner to have to drive through there today. It's a shame!

The Pagan Origin Of Easter
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Easter is a day that is honored by nearly all of contemporary Christianity and is used to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The holiday often involves a church service at sunrise, a feast which includes an "Easter Ham", decorated eggs and stories about rabbits.
Those who love truth learn to ask questions, and many questions must be asked regarding the holiday of Easter.
Is it truly the day when Jesus arose from the dead? Where did all of the strange customs come from, which have nothing to do with the resurrection of our Saviour?
The purpose of this tract is to help answer those questions, and to help those who seek truth to draw their own conclusions.
The first thing we must understand is that professing Christians were not the only ones who celebrated a festival called "Easter."
"Ishtar", which is pronounced "Easter" was a day that commemorated the resurrection of one of their gods that they called "Tammuz", who was believed to be the only begotten son of the moon-goddess and the sun-god.
In those ancient times, there was a man named Nimrod, who was the grandson of one of Noah's son named Ham.
Ham had a son named Cush who married a woman named Semiramis.Cush and Semiramis then had a son named him "Nimrod."
After the death of his father, Nimrod married his own mother and became a powerful King.
The Bible tells of this man, Nimrod, in Genesis 10:8-10 as follows: "And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, Accad, Calneh, in the land of Shinar."
Nimrod became a god-man to the people and Semiramis, his wife and mother, became the powerful Queen of ancient Babylon.
Nimrod was eventually killed by an enemy, and his body was cut in pieces and sent to various parts of his kingdom.
Semiramis had all of the parts gathered, except for one part that could not be found.
That missing part was his reproductive organ. Semiramis claimed that Nimrod could not come back to life without it and told the people of Babylon that Nimrod had ascended to the sun and was now to be called "Baal", the sun god.
Queen Semiramis also proclaimed that Baal would be present on earth in the form of a flame, whether candle or lamp, when used in worship.
Semiramis was creating a mystery religion, and with the help of Satan, she set herself up as a goddess.
Semiramis claimed that she was immaculately conceived.
She taught that the moon was a goddess that went through a 28 day cycle and ovulated when full.
She further claimed that she came down from the moon in a giant moon egg that fell into the Euphrates River.
This was to have happened at the time of the first full moon after the spring equinox.
Semiramis became known as "Ishtar" which is pronounced "Easter", and her moon egg became known as "Ishtar's" egg."
Ishtar soon became pregnant and claimed that it was the rays of the sun-god Baal that caused her to conceive.
The son that she brought forth was named Tammuz.
Tammuz was noted to be especially fond of rabbits, and they became sacred in the ancient religion, because Tammuz was believed to be the son of the sun-god, Baal. Tammuz, like his supposed father, became a hunter.
The day came when Tammuz was killed by a wild pig.
Queen Ishtar told the people that Tammuz was now ascended to his father, Baal, and that the two of them would be with the worshippers in the sacred candle or lamp flame as Father, Son and Spirit.
Ishtar, who was now worshipped as the "Mother of God and Queen of Heaven", continued to build her mystery religion.
The queen told the worshippers that when Tammuz was killed by the wild pig, some of his blood fell on the stump of an evergreen tree, and the stump grew into a full new tree overnight. This made the evergreen tree sacred by the blood of Tammuz.
She also proclaimed a forty day period of time of sorrow each year prior to the anniversary of the death of Tammuz.
During this time, no meat was to be eaten.
Worshippers were to meditate upon the sacred mysteries of Baal and Tammuz, and to make the sign of the "T" in front of their hearts as they worshipped.
They also ate sacred cakes with the marking of a "T" or cross on the top.
Every year, on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox, a celebration was made.
It was Ishtar's Sunday and was celebrated with rabbits and eggs.
Ishtar also proclaimed that because Tammuz was killed by a pig, that a pig must be eaten on that Sunday.
By now, the readers of this tract should have made the connection that paganism has infiltrated the contemporary "Christian" churches, and further study indicates that this paganism came in by way of the Roman Catholic System.
The truth is that Easter has nothing whatsoever to do with the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We also know that Easter can be as much as three weeks away from the Passover, because the pagan holiday is always set as the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.
Some have wondered why the word "Easter" is in the King James Bible.
It is because Acts, chapter 12, tells us that it was the evil King Herod, who was planning to celebrate Easter, and not the Christians.
The true Passover and pagan Easter sometimes coincide, but in some years, they are a great distance apart.
So much more could be said, and we have much more information for you, if you are a seeker of the truth.
We know that the Bible tells us in John 4:24, "God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
The truth is that the forty days of Lent, eggs, rabbits, hot cross buns and the Easter ham have everything to do with the ancient pagan religion of Mystery Babylon. These are all antichrist activities!
Satan is a master deceiver, and has filled the lives of well-meaning, professing Christians with idolatry.
These things bring the wrath of God upon children of disobedience, who try to make pagan customs of Baal worship Christian.
You must answer for your activities and for what you teach your children.
These customs of Easter honor Baal, who is also Satan, and is still worshipped as the "Rising Sun" and his house is the "House of the Rising Sun."
How many churches have "sunrise services" on Ishtar's day and face the rising sun in the East?
How many will use colored eggs and rabbit stories, as they did in ancient Babylon.
These things are no joke, any more than Judgement day is a joke.
I pray to God that this tract will cause you to search for more truth.
We will be glad to help you by providing more information and by praying for you.
These are the last days, and it is time to repent, come out and be separate.

Jeepers I bet they would shoot the Easter Bunny!
Was watching that movie today and thought about all of you, my message board friends, and your posts about menopause. I love Kathy Bates and her intentional crash in the parking lot when she says, "Face it, I'm older and I've got more insurance!" That's great.
Your right that movie does sound just like all of the gals on the board, but every word they are saying is the truth.Don't know what age you are but honey beleive me it is something else
but you're right. Her time is a comin'!
My mom hasn't even quite passed that hurdle yet. She's 50. But I understand some women experience it earlier. If I make it to that age, I will be blessed. I feel like I've had a rough life...but I know it could be worse.
I have a few years to go before I get there, but I had a hysterectomy when I was 21.
Yes, I remember Mom said you were younger than her. She also says you're very pretty. She asked about your son the other day. she wondered how he was doing. Do you just have one son?
I have a 31 year old step-son with 2 children (16 & 12) and a 27 yr. old step-daughter with 2 children (8 & 5).
Your Mom is a super nice person. Tell her "Thanks" for the compliment, but she hasn't seen all the extra weight that I have now. I guess there are times, especially when that big M word starts that you just don't feel very good about yourself.......anything else either.
I weigh more than I ever have (except when pregnant)My life is too stressful and busy to diet or exercise...
were talking alot.......I wore a size 4. I am in a tight 10 now. I'm glad that summer is coming....I can lose some that way.
I know about the "no time".
I would not complain...I think a size 10 is perfect for me....12 is ok...when I had cancer and weighed 100, which is not enough for my 5'7 and a half frame, the smallest I got down to was a size 8.loose....so basically i'd have to be a literal skeleton to be a 6. And I said if I got better and could eat again I'd never complain about my weight...oh, well....
I KNOW THE FEELING. I WEIGH THE MOST I'VE EVER WEIGHED IN MY LIFE. I COMFORT MY STRESS WITH EATING ALSO AND BELEIVE ME TO SEE ME I'M ALL STRESSED OUT.
When a long day at school is over I drive 30 minutes to Pikeville to get the baby and we always go out and eat. We eat well and I feel like I have earned it. I just won't even deprive myself of good food. Life is too hard and too short. ![]()
How come all the good foods that taste good are really not good for you. It doesn't seem fair does it? I love Sweets.
we have to cook it and eat it too!
Towanda!!!
My friend just sent me this board. I like it. Since we can talk about our county. Does anyone think that Judge Gibson will win the PVA? I don't think so with all the beckering she has done in the last 3 years. She should realize that if you don't play the game you can't win. In my opinion the last 4 years has been such a waste for our county. What do you guys think?
from what I read and hear.
Welcome to the board. It's always good to get new ones to visit and hopefully become regulars. ![]()
Personally I don't want someone in office who "plays the game'. I think She's a pretty strong lady who had to fight those men and withstand their banding against her, especially that Keene and the other one. I will vote for her. She clearly is an honest politician.
Who are you kidding there's no such thing as an honest poltician, thats why there is all that arguing on the court. Maybe she is trying to be honest but not going to happen in Pike County, she can't beat them so she should have joined them. would have seen more done for the county if she had.
More done..you mean another convention center..maybe a couple of horse tracks..and work done on private property by county workers, no thank you my tax dollars shouldn't be spent paving a driveway or building a bridge for one of 'the good ole boys'.
I think Karen's biggest problem has been her honesty. She has tried to run an uncorrupted Judge's office and as you can see, the corrupted magistrates just didn't like that. I found it refreshing to find someone stand up and say that we shouldn't have to use Pike county money in order to provide Donna Damron with a 70,000 dollar a year job. If the governor likes Donna so much then he should have found a way with his vast fortunes to do so.
That's true but it is hard for one honest person to do anything when all the others are not honest, we've seen where they has gotten us. I have nothing against Mrs Gibson. She is a good Christian lady and I like her, but lets face it she has done a few things that was very good for her christian morals. for instance when she was talking about that Harris guy missing so many meetings and it was due to his son being in a terrible car accident also when she put this Justice boy up in front of the fiscal court to use him to get a point across. Can you answer one question for me. I work in Pikeville and why is it she is never ever in the court house. you always see this joke of a guy called Good. He's Good alright Good at nothing. sorry to step on toes but I tell it as I know and see it not by what I read or hear.
Well, since you work in Pikeville and probably hear who is honest and who is not, Tell me about the county attorneys race. The Halls, are they related? And the people who are running for sheriff, I've never heard of any of them.
But, in all fairness, Judge Gibson is not the only one to blame. The magistrates didn't help matters. I would like to see the voters elect all new magistrates. We need people elected to those positions who are qualified, and who will set a side their political differences and will work together for the betterment of Pike County. Just imagine, if the judge and magistrates had spent as much time working on issues as they did bickering and arguing look at the things that could have been accomplished. Of course, there we will have a new judge executive since Karen Gibson is now seeking the PVA position. Now the question is of the three seeking that position, who is the most qualified. It's time the voters send a message loud and clear, it's time for a change.
I think that goes on everywhere.
I agree with every word you said. You wonder if there if was a honest politician. I don't think there was or will be. Both Halls running are a joke. I we would have had a better system Morris's son would have been given life but because who he is well you see what happened. VOTERS OF PIKE COUNTY . OUT WITH OLD IN WITH THE NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
