Did you know that our local school system get more money than the ones down state? It is true. The Pike county system gets unmined minerals tax money and the others don't. Why are our schools lagging behind the others? I believe it is because the money is used inappropriately. They have now hired so many administrators that they can't house them in the administration building. All over the county, administrators are housed in classrooms in the locals school buildings. Now Mr. Welch is always talking about a declining enrollment, why do we need more people to administrate a shrinking system?

Another Reason!**

Well, I have lots of opinions on the subject, but I'd better keep them to myself. One I will say, though, is they have to measure the paperwork teachers must do to see if it will reach the moon yet.....!!! I think theyre almost there**

I agree

by

I think that the administrators jobs should go to exceptional teachers as they are nearing the end of their career. No matter how much you love your job, you lose the energy it takes to do this job well. However, these same people could offer a wealth of advice, and they understand how you feel, because they've been there. It just kills me to see these 20 something people who've spent 3-5 years at the most standing up in front of a group of experienced teachers and tell them what to do. You should teach at least 10 years in a regular classroom, not a Title 1 job or some other pie job before becoming an administrator.

Good question!

by Shawna

I know I'm concerned with the salary increases because I'm not tenured and am wondering whether I'll be rehired next year if they have to make personnel cuts to pay for mandatory teacher raises. My question is classrooms are crowded enough already. What are they going to do with the 32 children in my room? And students of the other teachers who could lose their jobs?

Like you said Big Man that was 30 years ago, don't you know how hard it is to teach the kids today. If the kids were the same kids they were 30 years ago there would be no probably with 50 in a room.

Teaching!!

by Big Man

I know exactly what you mean. And no, I would not go back into the classroom, nowdays, even if only 10 children were there. My wife still teaches but I retired several years ago. I feel sorry for teachers and educators, their hands are tied, and they can't do anything about it. My hat is off for all of you.

yes, you're right

by Shawna

Even when I was in grade school we were much better behaved and had respect for our elders. Today few children do. They backtalk constantly. Children will say, "I can't be spanked and I'd love it if I got sent home for 3 days." Others say, "My parents don't care what I do." The sad thing is, sometimes it's true.

Teaching

by Tracy

I am teaching in Florida. Boy, is it rough. It's a shame when you see kids that were crack babies due to their parents. Also, we have 7th and 8th graders that are strung out on drugs and I, personally have seen kids with bank rolls as thick as my fist. I am sure it is not their weekly allowance.

I took mine....

by Gerri

when the car seat wouldn't fit in Daddy's car to Pikeville. I just had the seat belt around it......anyway 24 years ago. I had to hit the brake hard and he hit the CB radio in the car. I rushed him to ER. They laughed at me and asked me why I brought that baby in there for a fingernail scratch. His little blanket was covered with blood. I was scared to death.

Do you have any steri-strips? You may want to try that.

I do hope she is okay. They will have many bumps and falls. I stayed black and blue...still do and have no idea where they come from.

We let her drink ice water from her bottle until it washed away enough of the blood and stopped the bleeding. it looks better but still jagged and big for a cut on the lip. she didn't cry long though. it takes a lot to phase her. it swelled a little. i do worry about infection.

is that her saliva would be the best healer. Just don't give her potato chips (or the like) for a couple days. The salt probably wouldn't feel too good and the chips are hard and could reopen the wound if a piece scratched it.

Rocks in High Narrows.........

were all over the road today. It wasn't too bad this morning, but several small ones all over the road this afternoon around 3 p.m. It scares me to death to drive through there.

I wonder how many will have to be killed through there before the state decides to drill, shoot and cage that area?

I met several that I felt had been to the Breaks for dinner. If I lived in Pike COunty still...you couldn't have given me a free dinner to have to drive through there today. It's a shame!

The Pagan Origin Of Easter

The Pagan Origin Of Easter

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Easter is a day that is honored by nearly all of contemporary Christianity and is used to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The holiday often involves a church service at sunrise, a feast which includes an "Easter Ham", decorated eggs and stories about rabbits.

Those who love truth learn to ask questions, and many questions must be asked regarding the holiday of Easter.

Is it truly the day when Jesus arose from the dead? Where did all of the strange customs come from, which have nothing to do with the resurrection of our Saviour?

The purpose of this tract is to help answer those questions, and to help those who seek truth to draw their own conclusions.

The first thing we must understand is that professing Christians were not the only ones who celebrated a festival called "Easter."

"Ishtar", which is pronounced "Easter" was a day that commemorated the resurrection of one of their gods that they called "Tammuz", who was believed to be the only begotten son of the moon-goddess and the sun-god.

In those ancient times, there was a man named Nimrod, who was the grandson of one of Noah's son named Ham.

Ham had a son named Cush who married a woman named Semiramis.Cush and Semiramis then had a son named him "Nimrod."

After the death of his father, Nimrod married his own mother and became a powerful King.

The Bible tells of this man, Nimrod, in Genesis 10:8-10 as follows: "And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, Accad, Calneh, in the land of Shinar."

Nimrod became a god-man to the people and Semiramis, his wife and mother, became the powerful Queen of ancient Babylon.

Nimrod was eventually killed by an enemy, and his body was cut in pieces and sent to various parts of his kingdom.

Semiramis had all of the parts gathered, except for one part that could not be found.

That missing part was his reproductive organ. Semiramis claimed that Nimrod could not come back to life without it and told the people of Babylon that Nimrod had ascended to the sun and was now to be called "Baal", the sun god.

Queen Semiramis also proclaimed that Baal would be present on earth in the form of a flame, whether candle or lamp, when used in worship.

Semiramis was creating a mystery religion, and with the help of Satan, she set herself up as a goddess.

Semiramis claimed that she was immaculately conceived.

She taught that the moon was a goddess that went through a 28 day cycle and ovulated when full.

She further claimed that she came down from the moon in a giant moon egg that fell into the Euphrates River.

This was to have happened at the time of the first full moon after the spring equinox.

Semiramis became known as "Ishtar" which is pronounced "Easter", and her moon egg became known as "Ishtar's" egg."

Ishtar soon became pregnant and claimed that it was the rays of the sun-god Baal that caused her to conceive.

The son that she brought forth was named Tammuz.

Tammuz was noted to be especially fond of rabbits, and they became sacred in the ancient religion, because Tammuz was believed to be the son of the sun-god, Baal. Tammuz, like his supposed father, became a hunter.

The day came when Tammuz was killed by a wild pig.

Queen Ishtar told the people that Tammuz was now ascended to his father, Baal, and that the two of them would be with the worshippers in the sacred candle or lamp flame as Father, Son and Spirit.

Ishtar, who was now worshipped as the "Mother of God and Queen of Heaven", continued to build her mystery religion.

The queen told the worshippers that when Tammuz was killed by the wild pig, some of his blood fell on the stump of an evergreen tree, and the stump grew into a full new tree overnight. This made the evergreen tree sacred by the blood of Tammuz.

She also proclaimed a forty day period of time of sorrow each year prior to the anniversary of the death of Tammuz.

During this time, no meat was to be eaten.

Worshippers were to meditate upon the sacred mysteries of Baal and Tammuz, and to make the sign of the "T" in front of their hearts as they worshipped.

They also ate sacred cakes with the marking of a "T" or cross on the top.

Every year, on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox, a celebration was made.

It was Ishtar's Sunday and was celebrated with rabbits and eggs.

Ishtar also proclaimed that because Tammuz was killed by a pig, that a pig must be eaten on that Sunday.

By now, the readers of this tract should have made the connection that paganism has infiltrated the contemporary "Christian" churches, and further study indicates that this paganism came in by way of the Roman Catholic System.

The truth is that Easter has nothing whatsoever to do with the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We also know that Easter can be as much as three weeks away from the Passover, because the pagan holiday is always set as the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.

Some have wondered why the word "Easter" is in the King James Bible.

It is because Acts, chapter 12, tells us that it was the evil King Herod, who was planning to celebrate Easter, and not the Christians.

The true Passover and pagan Easter sometimes coincide, but in some years, they are a great distance apart.

So much more could be said, and we have much more information for you, if you are a seeker of the truth.

We know that the Bible tells us in John 4:24, "God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

The truth is that the forty days of Lent, eggs, rabbits, hot cross buns and the Easter ham have everything to do with the ancient pagan religion of Mystery Babylon. These are all antichrist activities!

Satan is a master deceiver, and has filled the lives of well-meaning, professing Christians with idolatry.

These things bring the wrath of God upon children of disobedience, who try to make pagan customs of Baal worship Christian.

You must answer for your activities and for what you teach your children.

These customs of Easter honor Baal, who is also Satan, and is still worshipped as the "Rising Sun" and his house is the "House of the Rising Sun."

How many churches have "sunrise services" on Ishtar's day and face the rising sun in the East?

How many will use colored eggs and rabbit stories, as they did in ancient Babylon.

These things are no joke, any more than Judgement day is a joke.

I pray to God that this tract will cause you to search for more truth.

We will be glad to help you by providing more information and by praying for you.

These are the last days, and it is time to repent, come out and be separate.

Fried Green Tomatoes

Was watching that movie today and thought about all of you, my message board friends, and your posts about menopause. I love Kathy Bates and her intentional crash in the parking lot when she says, "Face it, I'm older and I've got more insurance!" That's great.

My mom hasn't even quite passed that hurdle yet. She's 50. But I understand some women experience it earlier. If I make it to that age, I will be blessed. I feel like I've had a rough life...but I know it could be worse.

One son only, but.........

I have a 31 year old step-son with 2 children (16 & 12) and a 27 yr. old step-daughter with 2 children (8 & 5).

Your Mom is a super nice person. Tell her "Thanks" for the compliment, but she hasn't seen all the extra weight that I have now. I guess there are times, especially when that big M word starts that you just don't feel very good about yourself.......anything else either.

by Shawna

I would not complain...I think a size 10 is perfect for me....12 is ok...when I had cancer and weighed 100, which is not enough for my 5'7 and a half frame, the smallest I got down to was a size 8.loose....so basically i'd have to be a literal skeleton to be a 6. And I said if I got better and could eat again I'd never complain about my weight...oh, well....

Gibson

by Ky Gal

My friend just sent me this board. I like it. Since we can talk about our county. Does anyone think that Judge Gibson will win the PVA? I don't think so with all the beckering she has done in the last 3 years. She should realize that if you don't play the game you can't win. In my opinion the last 4 years has been such a waste for our county. What do you guys think?

Personally I don't want someone in office who "plays the game'. I think She's a pretty strong lady who had to fight those men and withstand their banding against her, especially that Keene and the other one. I will vote for her. She clearly is an honest politician.

Who are you kidding there's no such thing as an honest poltician, thats why there is all that arguing on the court. Maybe she is trying to be honest but not going to happen in Pike County, she can't beat them so she should have joined them. would have seen more done for the county if she had.

Karen Rules

by

I think Karen's biggest problem has been her honesty. She has tried to run an uncorrupted Judge's office and as you can see, the corrupted magistrates just didn't like that. I found it refreshing to find someone stand up and say that we shouldn't have to use Pike county money in order to provide Donna Damron with a 70,000 dollar a year job. If the governor likes Donna so much then he should have found a way with his vast fortunes to do so.

Re: Karen Rules

That's true but it is hard for one honest person to do anything when all the others are not honest, we've seen where they has gotten us. I have nothing against Mrs Gibson. She is a good Christian lady and I like her, but lets face it she has done a few things that was very good for her christian morals. for instance when she was talking about that Harris guy missing so many meetings and it was due to his son being in a terrible car accident also when she put this Justice boy up in front of the fiscal court to use him to get a point across. Can you answer one question for me. I work in Pikeville and why is it she is never ever in the court house. you always see this joke of a guy called Good. He's Good alright Good at nothing. sorry to step on toes but I tell it as I know and see it not by what I read or hear.

I agree that the past four years has been a waste.

by

But, in all fairness, Judge Gibson is not the only one to blame. The magistrates didn't help matters. I would like to see the voters elect all new magistrates. We need people elected to those positions who are qualified, and who will set a side their political differences and will work together for the betterment of Pike County. Just imagine, if the judge and magistrates had spent as much time working on issues as they did bickering and arguing look at the things that could have been accomplished. Of course, there we will have a new judge executive since Karen Gibson is now seeking the PVA position. Now the question is of the three seeking that position, who is the most qualified. It's time the voters send a message loud and clear, it's time for a change.
