Don't we wish!!! LOL We have 2 very poor choices!!
I know what you mean about passing on the road. I've been keeping it hot from Lower Twins to EC lately to the nursing home. Thanks again for all the prayers and support. Things aren't looking too good right now for her.
1986 FORD F150 4x4
SHORT BED, BULLDOG 4 SPD, 31-10:50 TIRES, 3" BODY LIFT, NEW CLUTCH, STARTER, ALTERNATOR, PWR STEERING PUMP, MODULE, COIL. RUNS GOOD. $1200.00 Call 276-835-1034.
My Grandmother is settled in at the nursing home in EC now. They moved her Friday. I had spent some nights and pretty late hours in Pikeville over the past week and was just too tired and didn't have the time to get on here alot. I still have work at home to do...no matter what else comes up in the mean time. LOL
She will not get any better, just have some days better than others. I worried about my Mother and Daddy. Mother staying up so much with her problems and Daddy on the road making sometimes 4 trips to Pikeville a day. He is a roadrunner anyway, but that is too much! He's only 78 years old! LOL
Anyway, thanks again for all the support, prayers and good thoughts.
BTW, who will win the election this fall?
My thoughts and prayers still going for you. I guess I'll be passing your dad on the road. That's all I do too! As for who will win the election...I saw on a tabloid cover yesterday that the election is called off. ha ha. Right beside someone having Bigfoot's baby.
I think it will be close...
3rd Annual "Benge's Revenge 3/4 Century Bicycle Challenge"
Sunday, September 26th, 2004
Norton Kiwanis, Norton, Virginia.
(1/4 Century Challenge Also)
Bike the beautiful hills that the last Cherokee warrior roamed. Where the famous red headed “Chief Benge” conducted his murderous raids on early settlers. Then end near where he was finally killed in an ambush in 1792 by Colonel Vincent Hobbs. This one shot (killing the Chief) opened up the entire region for settlement as well as the west by allowing passage through the Cumberland Gap. This 75-mile ride and the 25-mile ride begins in the City of Norton at J.I. Burton (JIB) High School. Then ride to the Town Appalachia, from here you will split Stone Mt. though Big Stone Gap. You pass through the area where the original “Trail of the Lonesome Pine” ran. (Those taking the short course ¼ Century, 25mile, will head back toward Norton from Big Stone Gap, the short ride will end at the foot of the at Legion Park/Benge’s Rock) Those taking the long ride to Pennington Gap will parallel Stone Mountain to your right down the Powell Valley, till you shoot the “gap” back through Stone Mt. at Pennington Gap, by the “Great Stone Face” so named by the Native Americans. Then shoot onto 606 through coal mining country. This time Stone Mt. is to your south and coal rich Little Black Mt. is to your left. You will travel through several of the original “coal camps” and small communities developed over a hundred years ago as housing for the miners, Keokee being the most prominent on this part of the race. You ride back to Appalachia and again to Big Stone Gap. Here you climb up the head of Powell Valley back to Norton. But wait folks the mountain climbing ain’t over just yet.
This is the last climb, but it is what the title of this ride is named after. “Benge’s Revenge”. Here you will ride by “Benges Rock”, where it is believed the Chief was buried, up High Knob Mountain. Remember they don’t call it “High Knob” for nothing. You must climb up the steep 5-mile grade to Norton’s famous “Flag Rock” where the finish line is located. Riders will have the option of stopping at the base of the final climb (ride start). Benge’s Rock, at the base of the mountain, will be the stopping point for the 25 milers.
Registration will be at JIB High school, *9:00 start time**Registration 7:30-8:45 AM**Awards will be given to the top 5 men and top 3 women with the best time**Drawing for prizes**SAG truck**Timed results 39x25 gear recommended for final 2 mile climb. *$25.00 entrance fee, no late fee* This is not a closed race all riders will be responsible for obeying the rules of the road The course will be MONITORED. RANDALL
I AM BACK.
After open heart surgery and a pacemaker, I am doing great, for now. I am still a little sore and weak but I reckon that is par for the course.
From you. I was beginning to wonder if you had passed on. I've been checking the obits. LOL. How are you doing now? Are the rest of the family doing ok. I've had surgery since we last talked. Doing better now. Tell other half hello Take care
We were in your neck of the woods while on vacation. We didn't have time to do hardly anything. My Little Man and his girlfriend joined us there, Little Man's car was hurt because of a speed bump, we spent most of the time trying to get it fixed. We looked at several cabins and lots of land, we are still looking for a place down there.
Email me sometime
Glad you were able to come down for a few days. Maybe next time we will connect. Hey I think that Ms Gerri is working her @@@ off don't hear from her much.
granny, who lives down near Elkhorn,is 94 years old, diagnosed with colon cancer, is not good, she is there with her granny and her parents (G's parents). I don't think G's hubby is too well right now either. So, she sure needs all the support, prayers and thoughts that we can give her. After all, she is always there fot he rest of us.
Glad you let me know where she is. She sure has had her hands full. I don't know how she does it. She will be in my prayers. Keep me posted Thanks
she'll be in my prayers too
Glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery. I hadn't heard. You're tough and can pull through it. You have a good woman there to keep you in line.
I know men can be stubborn. I remember when my Dad had 4 bypasses. I was a pretty tough nurse for him to deal with. I think he had it easier in the hospital than with me! LOL
Remember to do your walking and breathing exercises! Daddy is back up to 2 miles a day again....plus all his other activities. He's a road runner!
It is really hard to get back in the groove. I am still sore and very weak. I haven't seen you or your old man for a long time, I don't know if I would know you'all or not. LOL
the article Rick Bentley wrote about EKB. It was really nice. I could just see Carl (and very possible that I was with him) doing that! LOL He was a people man, for sure.
Thanks for pointing it out to me.
How is hubby doing with his health lately? Sure hope you're still not trying to take all that work on yourself. Had a great time on the trip looking forward to going again. That's exactly what you need. Some R & R

the 30th of July edition of the ANE. There was a column Rick Bentley done on the anniversary of East Ky Broadcasting and he mention Carl Ray. Was a nice piece.
I haven't been to Mother's to get the papers. I will this weekend. Carl did love that radio broadcasting! There is a "Carl D. Ray for Jailor" sign painted on a bridge at Walter's before you get to Big Lots in Pikeville. Dennis and I talk about it when we go by there.
I'll tell Mom to pick up a couple extra copies and let David keep one of them. He never buys a paper......no kin to his Mom or Dad! LOL
If so contact me...
it's located at Harman...about 10 minutes from VA/KY border
Needs some minor work a.k.a. TLC but you can live in it. It has a rentor now but she is unable to buy it...we'd LOVE to sell!
would like to buy a guitar for a new beginner.

Yes, I'm still alive....with very little sanity left, but here. Hubby has been sick again and doesn't want me out of his sight.
It's been hard trying to get any work done. What little time I have had has been spent trying to get caught up on work.
I have sneaked in some reading of the boards, but hadn't had the time to post as I would have liked.....and didn't want to half @ss something.
To CCG.........I have a thank you note for you that has been on my desk until it has grown mold. But I will say thank you for the beautiful frog! I love it and you are very special to think of me. I'll give you a call.
good to hear from ya!!
I have a new phone number - it's listed under my name - does that tell ya anything???
Take care & have a great 4th! Maybe you & the ole hubby there will see some "fireworks"...lol
I'm gonna have to call and get the scoop.
I don't know about any "fireworks"......too many neck and back pains!!!!!!! LOL
I did get to spend about 30 minutes in Wal-Mart Tuesday when I took him for an ultrasound on the arteries in his neck. No results yet.
Plus, I'm having trouble with DMV getting my driver's license renewed. My SS # matches my birthdate, but not my name. I have NEVER had my name changed with either hubby........but, they tell me in addition to a birth certificate, voter's card, old driver's license, and a copy of present marriage license....I also have to have old marriage license or divorce decree!!!! Ain't life a *****!!!! They think I'm some kind of terrorist or alien! Guess I'll stay close to home this weekend........can't be going thru them road checks.
I have a friend in Pike County that has passed away and I need to get over there........plus a Grandmother that is 94 and staying with my parents (that aren't really able to take care of her)....not to mention taking care of the business, and I could go on, but won't til I talk to ya!
It's a mess here.
Do you know what time they close Birch Knob? It sure would be a good place to go see the fireworks!!!!
or just stays open. Bearhunter would know or Fodder - I will post on DCDB & see if Fodder will answer.
Gosh, that's a b***h about your license. Everything has so much hype & red tape attached to it these days, ya know! Good Luck!
Call after the holiday - I would tell ya to call when you get "caught up" on work but that's an impossibility. ![]()
Saw your posts pertaining to the campgrounds, etc.
Anyway....have a great 4th!
at dark.
I hadn't talked to any of you in a long time. I actually had to get our Network Administrator to unblock this site for me because it had been blocked and I wanted to be able to see what everyone was up to. I have been busy doing not much of anything but Spider Solitaire and floating in the pool. It feels good to be lazy for a little while anyway.
to be able to float in the pool! I wish I had one.....got several ponds, but no pool. I threatened buying one of the $30. jobs.....but he just told me to go ahead.
It's hard to keep it clean. And I can't stand it to be cold. When the sun goes behind a cloud it seems 10 degrees colder. I do appreciate it though...just to be able to be carefree at all for a little while.
how to act if I could be carefree again! LOL I know you have the girls, hubby and your job. I was making pun, but still yet telling the truth.
Have you read "The Wedding" yet by Nicholas Sparks? It's a must read for any married woman!!!
BTW, what about your new book? Any time-frame?
I think the sequel will be ready by Christmas. I never dreamed it would take this long. It's a longer book. I think it's better, but it's somewhat different than the first...a little darker. I think I've found a better publisher too. We'll see. I had to put it away for over a year to think about an ending. I've just recently found inspiration to finish it. I've heard that about The Wedding and his other books too. It takes me about a month to finish a book because I get interrupted so much. ![]()
I especially love books about this area.
Another good one that I can relate to is "Crum" by Lee Maynard. It has some language in it, but a very good book.
I usually start my books in the bathroom at night when hubby is in bed. When they get interesting, I start carrying them with me.
I could read all day everyday, if time allowed......and I didn't have to work. LOL
all the books I buy/read to the library and they have asked me several times when the sequel would be out..seems like it's a popular book! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Hope you are enjoying the summer break & those girls. Too soon it will be time to shop for school clothes/supplies. Is the little one going to class this year?
I'm such a procrastinator. I don't ever do things on time. I had the sequel almost finished over a year ago and then just couldn't write the ending. Your comments make me feel good though. Maybe now I'll be inspired to finally finish it.
I'm waiting and watching slh. THE SEQUEL Hope you have a great year with school. Are you still not in the classroom?
I'm a technology resource teacher. I work at the Board and in different schools. I love it! I miss the classroom too, but it's better because I get to see different teachers and lots more children.
Did you get to go to Pike County for Hobson's funeral? I hated to hear his passing. I'm having the same crap with my birth certificate they say it is spelled one way and I've spelled it another way all my life and I've got to have it before the trip which is only two weeks away. I think it stinks. Sorry to hear about Hubby. Been there done that. Feel for him. Have a Happy and Safe Holiday to all.
I plan on going over to see them either this weekend or early next week. I really hate that about James. He was and Drucie is such good people.
Funny thing is, my ex and I used to play Rook with them alot when we lived over there. Drucie is the only person to ever put a cloth diaper on my son. It was a towel!
We were near the end of the game....David decided he had to have a diaper and I didn't have any more with me without going home. The game was too interesting for that and Drucie told me she would diaper him...that we couldn't leave just then. LOL Such memories!!!!! Percious!
Good luck with the birth certificate....I know what a hassle it can be. Wish I were going on a cruise!!!!!! Hope you have a swell time.....second honeymoon?!
Happy 4th to you and yours as well.
Just wondering about the same thing. I wrote awhile back to see what was up with everyone. CCG was getting gals ready for their prom. Ms. Gerri is always doing something with the business and running all the time for Hubby. I think Diana has gone over to the other board. She posts alot there . I read over there on those. But no one gets on here much anymore but I sure hope everyone is doing ok. Sure do miss ya'll
Good to hear from you! I do read the other message board where Diana posts sometimes but I never post there. We've been swimming a lot. that's about it.
Rumor is that Diana put the other board and one called flojo on line.
They get pretty political over there but some of it is really funny.
Hello...can you hear me now? Is this thing on?
Have you guys (and girls) left the building?
he left the rest of us milling around in search of something (altho some of us ain't figured out what it is we're looking for yet..lol). I check on here every day or so to see if there are any updates & usually there are none. I have gotten an email from Shawna (who is enjoying her summer off with her family & planning a birthday party tomorrow for Savannah..read about it in the ANE column today). My friend spoke to Gerri about 3 weeks ago but we haven't heard anything from her since but I reckon she's still a kickin' (hopefully that good lookin' husband of hers is out & about & doing good)..prolly on the road or putting up hay. It is around her anniversary so maybe hubby sprung for a trip. Hey, G, hear that???? It's always slow during the summer months but this like "snail's" pace, isn't it?? Maybe someone will see these posts & give us an update on what's going on with everyone.
I'm glad to see you girls still check in every now and then. I've been very busy but I did miss reading your posts.
