After a thoroughly deserving win against the Locos last week I was confident of Huntly beating anyone on Saturday, especially an under strength Keith team. So, what happened ? Ross Campbell isn’t playing because he’s on holiday, but we’ve no one as big in stature as a replacement. We have a back four playing where nobody is over six feet tall. Come back Hendo & Big Deek. With Huntly cruising the game at one up, when it should’ve been at least three by half time, against one of the poorest teams I’ve seen this season, we managed to lose it. This was another game where we didn’t get to grips in midfield. Changes should’ve been made at half time, not late in the second half. Stainer & Marco should’ve been on for you know who & maybe even Gerry. Once Keith got the equaliser it gave them the confidence to go on & win it, which they did. Some schoolboy defending again on our part did not help this. Full marks to Gary McGowan (my man of the match) & it was great to see Gordon Farmer come on, still in Huntly colours & long may that continue. I can’t fault the players for their performance on the day, everyone makes mistakes in games, but you have to question the tactical blunders by the management which I think determined the result. The highlight of the afternoon for me (or me-ow) was the black & white cat, which seems to have taken up residence in Somerfield supermarket. So come on you fellow Huntly supporters out there, I want your comments. Am I wide of the mark or what ?

Spot on Mr Parker. How Richard Stainer wasn't used earlier is behond believe? Against a very slow Keith back4 his pace would have caused all sorts of problems. Squad looks very thin at the moment, & additions need to be made if the team are going to last the course this season. Thought Ant Henry did well for his first start this season, also Mark Gray surely has "Player of the year" written all over him with another solid effort in the middle. |

No Mr. Parker, you're not wide of the mark but I dont think you're giving Keith credit for a very good second half performance, aided of course by our inability to press home the advantage. Marco was still "feeling his hamstring" after last week but should he have even been on the bench therefore? I dont think we gave Gary enough of the ball. He had the beating of the aging Keith defence any time but didnt get enough chances to run at them. Stainers pace would have worried them if he had been on earlier.
However the manager DID admit after the game that he got it wrong and was pretty pissed off with himself.
Bring on Lossie! |
