The Brora Game

Well, it was another chalk & cheese performance from Huntly. Had they been on the razzle all week since the demolition of Deveronvale ?
There was no shape to the side whatsoever. GerryO’Driscoll upfront on his own ?….. We played like the away team. It wouldn’t have surprised me in the first half, if preliminary works to the supermarket had started on the Howling Shed side of the pitch, as we had nobody right side. Mutterings amongst some Huntly supporters that the condition of the pitch was to blame for the team performance was just grasping at straws ; it was the same conditions for both teams. Yes, we made mistakes in defence, we will always make mistakes in matches. Regardless of this fact, we had enough quality in the team on the day to score at least one more goal than Brora.
Again, the home crowd support was woeful. After the emphatic win over the Highland League champions the previous Saturday, what has to be done to attract supporters to our club ?
Can a certain Huntly player explain why during the second half, after it was being pointed out by the Huntly fans he was consistently & blatantly in an offside position, therefore rendering any Huntly forward pass useless, he responds by gives a one fingered gesture to those fans ? The player in question was lucky to stay on the field during the course of the game, given his general conduct & relentless verbals to the officials.
One or two Huntly players having an off day is acceptable, but for the whole team ? Was there a lack of motivation in their part from the management ? Poor Simon Scott seemed positively embarrassed by his ‘Man of the match’ award.
As the Highland League title is now beyond us, it would be nice to see players in the periphery of the first team given a run out. If they don’t get this opportunity & if they’re as talented as ie. Gary McGowan & Richard Stainer, they may seek opportunities elsewhere, which would be a sad loss for Huntly football club.

Aye Mr Parker some fair points made, it certainly was hard to believe that this was the same team that humilated the mightly Vale the previous week !
Don't know if it was the same player that we were shouting to to watch offside or not but no excuse for giving his own fans abuse, if this was the case.
Agree it is time to give some other players a chance, see young Kippy wasn't even on the subs bench

I have to agree with the comment about the crowd, it was totally woefull. I just don't know how we are supposed to get the supporters back...I would have thought our next home game after hammering the vale on their own patch would have brought a bigger attendance.

The gates we have had this season are a joke, OK Huntly isn't that big a place but we should still get about 300 fans for a home game. Sometimes it looks as if we only get about half that amount.

These crowds hardly do alot to encourage the players and more needs to be done to attract fans back. you only need to look to the locos home support to see what a difference this makes to the team.

What I noticed about Brora was their work rate, and their willingness to work for each other they also made it very difficult for us to break them down due to their negative tactics, but we should still have been able to beat them.
