no Scottish Cup this year!

Dissapointing puts it mildly but fair play to Rothes for earning a well-earned win.

former Huntly centre half Nathan Sharp was probably the best player on the park for Rothes and fellow ex-Huntly defender Alan Stephen also did a good job on keeping out our attack.

Looking for an improved performance next week in the league.

yes, but Grant next week in the League does not get us much needed revenue from a Scottish Cup Tie, no Press coverage for the same nor give the fans a day out.

Mood in the club after the game spoke volumes.

Well played to Rothes, Nathan Sharp was my man of the match but just how good was number 7 !!

Aye good game yesterday, looking forward to next weeks game and the undoubted stick i will recieve.

without gloating, i did warn all who i spoke to after Rothes' defeat of locos that a similar performance would rock huntly.

Ah: thanks for the banter, the only huntly fan along with neep who didnt get bubbly and give me the 'are u nae huntly loon lyk?' line.

To all those who did, i have no regret about enjoying my best friend and an investment perform so well, even if it was against my local team.

The Rothes Shambles

I am getting all poetic because our performance was pathetic,
With half an hour gone it’s only Rothes creating chances,
They are leading our defence on some right merry dances !

Whilst from Lossie, an un-fit big time striker Billy brings,
A skilful young crowd favourite is being kept back in the wings….
At nil nil for so long and the home crowd becoming edgy,
That despair turns to hope now, when we bring on Reggie.

All our hands to the pumps now, all guns to the fore,
Then as most had predicted, it’s the Rothes who score !
All credit to them though, we just can’t break them down,
And away home they go with a deserved win from our town.

The football we served up was as bad as the pies,
I was beginning to think WE were THEM in disguise !
I hope the next fixture it’s not more of the same,
Come on now Huntly AND SHARPEN UP YOUR GAME !

It really was poor stuff, gone is the determination from the same bunch of player who won the league last season.

What was the point of persisting with punting long balls upfield when the Rothes centre half Sharp won everything in the air??!!
Surely if it doesn't work the first few times, you'd change it.

With Mark Gray missing it was evident just how big a miss he is to the midfield.
There wasn't anyone commiting to a tackle, nobody creating chances from the middle of the park.
Guild and Stephen have underperformed thus far and McGowan seems a bit greedy on the wing but punting long balls into the opposition box means you miss out the entire midfield.

Big Shallicker has not impressed since he signed as he seems to be more concerned at arguing with officials that getting the back in the back of the net - and looks unfit. Not to mention he was losing out to a defender half his size in Alan Stephen.

Since Davie McGinlay left to Forres and Martin Stewart retired there is no leadership at all in this side, years ago we'd have a born captain and leader like Lennox, Copland, Morland etc shouting encouragement from the opening whistle but we've never seen this from anyone this season. We need someone on the pitch to keep shouting at fellow players and keeping them going.

At the end of the day, nobody can deny Rothes the win as they were worthy winners and we're sure to wish them all the best in the next round but let's see a better performance tomorrow against them in the league!

HDH - still no idea who you are and that is pretty hard-hitting stuff, but strangely I agree with the principles in the backbone of it.

We'll see what ttomorrow brings, if it's more of the same no wonder Bhoy Wonder's jacked in supporting for now.
