At least the Huntly fans might be there! Unlike the Forres fans who see that meaningless game at Hampden as a better ticket.

Re: Forres Game

well that was yet another shocking display us supporters had endear yesterday!

Our performances recently have been awful, we're not creating chances, we're not killing teams off and we're are dropping too many points early on.

After recent results and performances it was probably only a matter of time before we were given a good beating, but twice in the same week??!! not good enough!

There doesn't seem to be the same heart and determination in the side this season.
There's no experienced campaigners like McGinlay and Stewart who were always passionate when they pulled on a Huntly shirt and would encourage their side right from the opening whistle!

This season we may have lost our captain to injury but I challenge someone to come on here and tell me just who the leaders on the park are because we are far too quiet on a matchday.

I agree with Mr Parker's previous post, he was spot on with a lot of things following the Buckie game and i dread to think what his response is following yesterdays game.

Surely there are more like me who have opinions at the way things are going and I'd encourage fellow supporters to come on here and post more or will we get sent to the back of the stand for speaking up??!!

Having had a look at highlandleague.net i see that A.H is boycotting saturday's game. I also heard him and a fellow supporter went all the way to wick the other week only for certain people from the club to start having a go at them. Come on, us supporters have to be applauded for turning up week in week out. The guy in the home dugout yesterday would've done so!

In all fairness I do hope we can get back on track this week against Clach.

RE: Huntly Diehard

Right to clear this up, yes unless I have a change of heart later in the week I am joining those who have already done so by voting with my feet and staying away from Christie Park this saturday.

I have not taken this decision lightly, but there is a certain person at the club who, as was made totally clear yesterday, I and many others feel simply has to be put away for the longer-term future of the club.
I dont think it's fair to name names, but at the same time it doenst take a genius to work out who is centre of attention right now.
The final eight minutes of the Cove game were enough for most, but I gave this person the benefit of the doubt and two games later things havent changed so until much-needed action is carried out things wont improve.

Some people may look at this and say a.h has lost his marbles, but look around you on saturday - there wont be a crowd, and for what crowd there might be they will be expressing their frustrations at this individual.

From a personal viewpoint, staying away on saturday will kill me, it certainly isnt something I want to do but feel I have to. Anyone who knows me knows I am probably Huntly's most recognised, most reliable to show up, and most charismatic supporter - but this being the case does not make me put my fellow supporters in the shade. They are staying away to make a point so as such, I feel I have to do the same (although I stress I will only be missing this one game as my own protest - unlike the others). It was a pity the two games this week were 1) a midweek game and 2) clashed with Scotland game as some will believe these were the reasons for the poor crowds, but knowing the supporters missing I know in days gone by theres just no way they would miss Huntly games (like myself).

ACTION must be taken as we cannot go on like the last three games - the way it stands we are heading for mid-table mediocrity and that is something last season's (false hope?) success made us think we'd escaped at long last.

I want to make it perfectly clear this is not me having a go at the players, they give their all every week, but take yesterday - only the supporters were trying to gee them up at 3-0 down - and we dont get to make the on-park changes we clearly see are desperately needed. These are the same players that won the League last year, so why are we not getting the same performances??

THE FORRES GAME ETC

October 10 2005, 9:52 AM

For those of us who spend our precious time & money week in week out, us supporters deserve better from the players AND the management. All credit to Forres though, who looked the business, like what we USED to do. Our inept display didn’t help much & well, readers on this forum know my opinions about current tactics & playing one striker up front.

How unfortunate we were for our starting line up to be disrupted, not that I think it would have changed the result. An even bigger scunner was that the teams who will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season, all capitalised on our defeat, scoring heaps of goals in the process. In all my years of supporting Huntly, albeit not as many as some, I have never seen a Huntly team take eighty minutes to have a shot on target. What ARE the players doing in training ? Well done to Richard Stainer for showing the way it should be done. Remember, his goal last season at Forres had a big say in us winning the title. Well done also for him getting onto the pitch without the prompting of the now famous banner (I didn’t see it anyway, did anyone ?) Now go & sit on the bench for the next umpteen weeks, wether you are deemed good enough or not to make it that is……..

a.h. : It is all very noble to make a stand for your beliefs & that must be applauded. However, it could make a much BIGGER impact, if the rest of the supporters could be in on why you are doing it & maybe, if we are in agreement, stand with you ? That would take a bit organisation but me thinks that, at the end of the day, unfortunately, nobody who is anybody is going to take any notice. Which is a shame, as I for one would be interested in your uncensored views if you would be so kind to forward them to me?

I honestly have not a clue as to what your disagreement or whatever, seems to be. I am adding two & two & making five ! I do visit the highlandleague.net website, but find much of what is posted to be confusing & not always conducive to all topics football.

In reply to Huntly Diehard, I am in total agreement with you on all points made. I made similar points to your own, under the posting ‘RECENT GAMES’ but nobody replied to them !
So, I’m putting them forward again to see if I get any respose, or maybe get edited out with a red card !! :

Point one :

Both Gerry O’Driscoll & Ritchie Taylor are excellent individual players in their own right.
However, in my humble opinion, playing both of them at the same time is not working, due to them being similar players to each other. With Martin Stewart retired, we need a taller forward to win the high balls, who can hold the ball up & subsequently bring other members of the team into the play.

Point two :

We are fortunate to have an abundance of forward attacking players. Unless it is due to an injury on the pitch, making a substitution with thirteen or fourteen minutes to go in a game is too little too late.

Point three :

Hands up any player who has known a referee to change a decision ? Players have got to realise that however hard they try, they will not reverse a referees decision, regardless of how unjust that decision might be. Yes, it is extreemly frustrating for the players AND the supporters, when seemingly stone wall decisions are not given to us. For example, the penalty incident against Cove, plus the free kick which lead to their equaliser. Because of this metality, we are incurring needless bookings, the consequences of which can only be detrimental to the team as the season progresses.
So for God’s sake, count to ten, or even twenty. If you can’t count to twenty, count to ten TWICE, & button it !

Re: THE FORRES GAME ETC

Its fair to say we have not been anywhere near our best the last few games and on saturday we found out BIG stlye.
In my experience the protest doesnt work,i did it at clydebank we walked out on mass during a game and we even had a fan handcuff himself to posts during a game.It didnt work.We have a tight squad in certain areas which has been clear for all to see.Im not one to have a go at management but why is reg playing midfield?during the buckie game he played at right back when the lad on the bench could have fitted in no problem.Lets have a fans forum q and a i know ah has talked about this and something was planned but it didnt get off the ground. So lets change that and move on together.

I have never seen a Huntly team take eighty minutes to have a shot on target.

I have, I think in the 3-1 league defeat to Locos last season it took about 86 minutes when Flash pulled one back.

Selection & Tactics

October 13 2005, 11:02 PM

I ken what do I know as a Rugby man but here goes:-

Forres game

I was surprised at the set up of the team last Sat. Gairns seemed to be lost in his role in centre midfield and trying to play behind Jerry as was Craig playing on the right. Surely these players should have been the other way round ( I know they were changed but we were 3-0 down by this time)

I know they were lots of injuries and Ritchie getting injured in the warm up must have been a real problem to reorganise from BUT why are we playing 1 up when Jerry would admit he is not the quickest and the 3 players starting in centre midfield are more ball winners etc rather than supporting goal scorers. This system just seems to give the other team plenty of poss at the back to build from and put us under pressure.

Surely 2 up would be better to support each other. Would agree that Jerry and Ritchie are too similar in style. Stainer has pace to cause problems to a ball over the top or into the space behind full backs.

Where was the leader on the pitch that has been raised above. We simply just rolled over and no one took the team by the scruff of the neck and got them going.

I felt also that Simon was left very exposed to the cross ball in behind him that caused us so much problems.

Simon and Neil Reid are usually very solid, but Simon just seemed to have an off day and Reid seemed to be struggling with an injury was he 100% fit I dont think so

The team seems to be lacking in confidence I hope the management team can get things going on Sat,(and Anderson, Taylor and Guildy are back in the team soon) hope to be there if Panmure call off.

Looking forward to some interesting comments
