Westdyke 2 Huntly 3 League
The first game of the league campaign took Huntly to Westhill for what can only be described as a really tough opener, considering they had only just played a pre-season friendly against the same team the week before and were convincingly beaten 9-2. Out for revenge the huntly team came out with all guns firing and took the lead after only five minutes when Gary Mackay slotted home to give the visitors a surprise lead. This clearly rattled the home side, who then within the space of ten minutes found the net twice to go in front. Huntly were not to lie down and got the equiliser back through Mark Duncan with a well taken effort.
( half time 2-2)
Five minutes into the second half Callum Mcintosh, with a neat lob, once again surprised the Westdyke side, to put his side 3-2 up.Huntly had 3 or 4 more chances to kill the game off, but in the end held out brilliantly to start the season on a high. This was a fantastic team effort for a new side who have just played a handfull of times together, well done.
