Right, I finally get to write a post I've been itching to write for eleven months, but it is apporpriate at a time when the board are keep to develop links with the supporters.
I would like to ask the board to consider, when they have a new manager to unveil, not to do this as a press conference but as a fans forum.
I have only known this to have happened once in recent times, at Cove when they unveiled John Sheran.
The board knew he'd accepted the job, but didnt tell the fans and instead invited fans to the unveiling of the new manager where they were given the chance to ask him questions.
Obviously the press were invited too, but there is a difference between press conference and public forum.
Just an idea to ponder, and I'm putting it on here as I know Robin reads it.
It really doesn't matter how the new manager gets unveiled as long as it's the right appointment, and as soon as possible. We are going into a new era with the reforming of the supporter's club and seeing signs of closer links with the board room than we've had for a long time. Let's not start trying to tell the club how to make this very important announcement we await, let's concentrate on getting a good turnout at Wednesday's meeting and getting as many bums on seats for the bus to Inverness on Saturday as possible.
OK Andrew, I maybe put that a bit too strong as it was only a suggestion; so I apologise for that.
However I still have serious doubts about the suggestion as any such forum would take some time to organise. You say this is how John Sheran was introduced at Cove and although I can't find any reference to that, his appointment was announced on HFL.net on Friday 30 April 2004. So now the difference becomes kind of obvious, that season was all but over so time probably wasn't an issue.
We however are still at the early stages of the season and I think we would all like to see the new manager in place ASAP to see if something can be salvaged. If HFC decide not to adopt your suggestion, I think you'll probably be quite happy if we start quickly picking up the points.
With reference to Duncan Shearer it would appear that he was unveiled at a press conference at 10:00 on Wednesday 27 October 2004.
