Have been in club last two saturday nights and both have been full houses, great atmosphere, everyone appearing to enjoy themselves, some high spirits but no hassle.
Cannot believe that they could be thinking of closing this venue.
Have heard that it has as much to do with donations to football club as it has with lack of punters during week.
I think its time those in charge got there heads together to get this sorted out.

Re: Social Club - what can be done?

We were very busy on sat night, and i saw a few new faces to, spoke to them on sunday on my way to work and they were pleased with the place, drinks, and music, (especially happy hour).
also had a lot of people asking at the bar what was happening with the social club, had to tell them i know as much as everyone else, but as they were members to come along to the meeting and we will all find out what the score is and what we can all do to rectify the situation, so i hope to see lots of people at the meeting in october, and hope to read plenty more posts and suggestions on the forum.

Should be clarified that although all are welcome membership of the social club is required and unless you are a member can take no part in the forthcoming meeting.

Re: re:

odd, because The Huntly Express Advert calls it a General Meeting - the term of which means it is open to all - members or otherwise!

Im not a member so won't be coming, but I really do hope this goes well as the club is a well-liked place by not just Huntly people, but of course visiting supporters from accross the HFL area, and in a way helps put Huntly on the map in terms of being a good day out.

A.H I take it you're not a member of too many clubs?

All clubs hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the end of their financial year to report progress over the year and to ensure that any vacancies on the committe can be filled through a process of proposition and voting. Any other matters can also be discussed, and if advertised in an advance agenda, changes to the constitution can also be voted on.

A Special General Meeting can be called where some important matter(s) need to be discussed and cannot wait until the next AGM.

Both the AGM and any Special General meetings are restricted to members of the club.

Huntly Football Social Club is a private members club and as such is required to give members 21 days notice of a Special General Meeting.

I do know what I am talking about as yes (I know you find it hard to believe) I am currently a club secretary who has to call these things!

General protocol deems such matters "open", membership of club or not.

Im not coming to the meeting anyway, so I'm not going to bother taking this any further.

I am sorry AH but you do not know what you are talking about.
You cannot come to the meeting as you are NOT a member of the Social Club.

AH, you are a regular Huntly fan and often in the social club on a Saturday, can I ask why you are not a member of the social club. Every penny counts....
