Well as the old cliche goes ,football certainly is a game of two halves!! Huntly were at home for the semi final of the stonehaven youth trophy last sunday and id like to say a big thankyou to the many parents, fans and family who turned up to watch this, and im pretty sure that although the result didnt go our way,no one went home too disappointed after watching a truely entertaining game of football.Huntly again started the brightest and could have been ahead in the first minutes but failed to take their chances.Formartine took the lead on 5 mins when a long ball upfield caught huntly and the away striker scored (0-1).On 8 mins Lewis HENDRY blazed just over.More chances fell to huntly but again they failed to capitalize and another break from the away side lead to another goal on 20 mins(0-2). ON 23 mins greig DORRAT hit the bar with a header from a marc DUNCAN corner.ON 28 min Daniel ROSS made a great save and just a minute later Scott Milton crashed a tremendous 20 yard strike off the bar also!!!!( twice the woodwork thwarting the home side.) On 36 minutes formartine were awarded a penalty when Daniel ROSS was adjudged to have taken down the away striker, the penalty was scored and unbelievably huntly found themselves 3-0 down at half time. Some words of advice from the huntly manager at half time, and fabulous encouragement from the home support seemed to do the trick as on 51 minutes Lewis HENDRY hit a beauty which hit the back of the net topull one back (1-3). This goalseemed topanic the away side and just 2 MINUTES later huntly scored again with a brilliant Scott MILTON strike which flew past the away keeper giving him no chance(2-3) GAME ON!!.Huntly kept piling the pressure on and a huntly shot just shaved the post on 57 minutes, but just 5 minutes later the home support went wild when Greig DORRAT shot home after some great play from the impressive Scott MILTON.(3-3).What a come back but unfortunately it only lasted A MINUTE!!!!, FORMARTINE hit back immediately and again the huntly lads had to try and pick themselves up again. On 75mins the OUTSTANDING Sam CLARK hit a free kick against the inside of the post and the ball rolled agonisonly along the line and past the other post ,with no huntly takers toput it in!.However endless huntly pressure paid off when Greig DORRAT DESERVEDLY got his second when he fired home with 2 mins left to take the A DIVISION outfit into extra time. full time (4-4).Neither team had too much chances in extra time but the visitors took the lead when an away striker seemed tohace fouled the huntly defender but the ref allowed the challange to stand and the player went on to score. With the huntly team giving absolutely everything they just couldnt quite get another goaland the wmatch finished HUNTLY 4- FORMARTINE 5)A BIG, BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF THESE HUNTLY PLAYERS WHO GAVE ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, TO PLAY LIKE THIS AND STILLGET BEAT MUST BE SOUL DESTROYING,BUT HOPEFULLY THEY CAN LIFT THEMSELVES FOR THE FINALGAME OF THE SEASON AGAINST WESTDYKE. ONCR AGAIN A BIG THANKYOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO TURNED UP TO WATCH THIS HIGHLY RATED U15S SIDE,ENTERTAIN US ALL!!!!
