Weather good and pitch just been cut and rolled looking well. Westdyke started well with a goal in the first 5 minutes. For most of the first half Westdyke had the best of the play. At 30 minutes Lewis Hendry put in a cross to Greg Dorrat who chipped over the defenders head to Gary McKay who took the ball round the keeper to get Huntly's first goal. Unfortunately within two minutes Westdyke had equalised. At 36 minutes Greg Dorrat slipped a ball through the Westdyke defence which Gary Mackay ran onto and put past the keeper. Two all at half time.
After half time Huntly now attacked from the start. Mark Duncan and Sam Clark both had good crosses that came close. At 44 minutes Kyle Stewart played a long ball through to Greg Dorrat who chipped past the goalkeeper but hit the post and rebounded out. Three Huntly players reacted quickly and were after the rebound but Greg Dorrat put it in the net. As in the first half though Westdyke struck back. Cross in from the right and a well taken shot and Westdyke scored again. There were a few scrappy moments in the Huntly goals after that gave Westdyke some chances. Fortunately the ball was cleared each time. Huntly got on top again with a ball over the top from Sam Clark to Greg Dorrat who chipped over goalie and Mark Duncan ran on to score but offside no goal. One minute later Gary McKay had the ball in the net for Huntly’s fourth goal. At 61 minutes Greg Dorrat put a pass out to the wing to Lewis Hendry who put a cross into the goalmouth Greg Dorrat ran onto and headed in for number five. Westdyke had a couple of good shots at goal well saved by Daniel Ross. Two more goals from Huntly a cross in by Lewis Hendry and Greg Dorrat scored and from a corner Andrew Chalmers headed in.
From a slow start Huntly were on top by end of the game. Huntly had new team members today Sean Mitchell and Scott Thomson. Credit to Westdyke for a well played game.
Well done lads, westdyke have only been beaten twice this year and both by yourselves!!Considering westdyke should win the league,as they have 2 games in hand,this is a fantastic achievement.Two stupid results earlier in the season ( a draw against bridge of don, and a 5-4 defeat to banks of dee)against lesser opposition,probably cost you the league but nevertheless you are all a credit to yourselves and manager,and can hold your heads up high on a fantastic first season together, well done lads!!!!!.
