It's a pity that Neil is wanting away as I think he has had a good season in a lot of different positions through injuries to other players a proper utility player in my book.
Anyway I wish Neil ALL THE BEST AND THANKS FOR HIS EFFORTS IN A HUNTLY STRIP. THANKS NEIL.
After seeing a post waiting to be moderated earlier I'd spoke to Dave Cormie to get a bit of info on the transfer news/rumours.
I was informed that we have been in talks with a couple of players but we can't make any announcements at present (that is why there was no official quote on highlandleague.net) as both players are still under contract with their clubs until the end of May and the Manager assured me when the moves can be made official once the transfer window opens and the players are then free to make their moves and such paperwork etc is carried out we will be bringing you the stories first on the site.
There was a situation back in June 2002 when Inverurie Locos had Neil Reid (then Formartine) and Tommy Wilson (then Huntly) pictured in the Press & Journal both in Locos shirts when contracts had not expired with their current clubs - Locos were then fined over the incident.

i don't see why, for the sake of a few days that we should risk a repeat incident that happened to locos (haha!!) well done for not risking putting the club in that situation.
Cheers for the message - it covers my back too as I can't go ahead with signing stories until given official confirmation from the club.
I would add that Dave has been brilliant to deal with since he came to the club and the communication process at the club has certainly been a big improvement from what it used to be!

I have to add that i will ensure that all player movements will be announced on our Web site before anywhere else. I feel that the club and the supporters have been able to work well togeather over the past year and i we are not looking to upset that. The web site will be the first for all information on players and club news.
I have also heard about Ewan, but he wont come cheap. But if he signs, with hopefully Jerry returning then there will end up being alot of much needed competiton for places this coming season.
Getting ....... from Forres is a good start to improving our defence, I also believe that .. ........ from Cove has agreed to sign on, we might then see Grayzer back in mdfield adding to the competition in the middle of the park.
I am sure it will be a busy summer for Cormie.
Edited - see early post re signings

Heard from a source on Tuesday night that our groundsman had been telling people we were signing a new striker while also heard that one of the current forwards is said to be leaving
Just to put this to Bed before it get out of hand again, I have stated that Huntly FC online will be the first to know about any transfer new's or gossip. and that will be the case.
No new striker has been signed and at present no one is leaving.
Strange going-on in my eyes.
I don't understand why Ross Buchanan is going back to Turiff, surely more to this? A perfectly good keeper being replaced? I don't get it.
Strange going-on in my eyes.
I don't understand why Ross Buchanan is going back to Turiff, surely more to this? A perfectly good keeper being replaced? I don't get it.
this was quoted in the Northern Scot on Friday:
"a promotion at work has since restricted Buchanan's availabilty."
I for one, will be sorry to see "Grapies" go. I think he has done alright for us since signing.
I hope the club either gets a sizeable fee for him, or indeed a decent player swap (preferably a striker!). I would also wish him luck (nae too much though!) at whichever club he joins.
Once Niall Corser is fit again, we could always move Grayser back to defence, in place of Grapies, where he did brilliantly last season. It's nae the end of the world!
posted on another thread by Happie Chappie: Willie Pep wrote on Highland League.net:
Story flying about Huntly on saturday that Bruce Cormie is gonna be going to America to work, and Ritchie Taylor could be on his way back to Huntly as his replacement.
i ve heard that this wont be the first transfer request and last request as there are a few players who want to join up with cormie and the crew at the locos and also heard that a few former players are looking to come back to huntly fc
So Mr Nice Guy, Dave Cormie, has started tapping our players already. Ringo will be on his way to the Locos. Who's next? Probably Neil Gauld. Anyone still want to shake honest Dave Cormie's hand the next time they meet him?
So they are building a church at Harlaw Park.
For all the born again Locos returning to their spiritual home.
How many more players are being tapped up by Reverand Big Red ?
What was the name of the 12th disciple ??
no not only is cormie a sell out but looks like several of our players might be too, so much for loyalty and contracts, they don't seem to be worth the paper they are wrote on these days.
and if they do go to locos its not as if they are going to a bigger or better club, just one most teams in the hfl loathe!!
What a strange game we follow.
3 weeks after he had his supporters chanting his name, Ringo decides he's bigger than the club (well he does look to have put on weight)
Did he end up getting a get out clause in his contract like previous departees. If so who's allowing contracts to be made like this?
Never mind Ringo you were decent when you weren't off on a stagger or a wedding every month!
Who's next? Gauld or Cormie?
Well, Well, now everybody might see why myself and various other supporters HATE the Locos! It seems that Big Red is now desperate to sabotage our season! As somebody else has said so much for loyalty!
Once again it seems that certain players are only playing for the manager, NOT the club, which is what they should be playing for!
This latest transfer request will undoubtedly spark more, but I hope the majority of the squad can see the benefits of remaining with Huntly.
I believe if they want to go, then let them! I'm sure there are plenty of players who want to play for our club, as we are just as big a club in Highland League terms (if not Bigger!) than Locos, our honours list proves this.
Maybe now that the blinkers have been removed, Alan G and his friends will be able to see through the insincere Dave Cormie facade. He certainly fooled a lot of Huntly fans. Talking to fans and making speeches on buses at away games doesn't really count for anything in football terms. Also, it doesn't matter if Huntly is a bigger or smaller club than Locos. Money is the motivator. You can be certain that anyone who moves from Huntly to Locos will be doing it for more money - including Dave Cormie.
Hamish, whoever you are, I resent the fact you say I have been blinkered towards, Dave Cormie! are you perhaps an Anderson man then, if so you must be in the minority, as he wasn't liked by a lot of folk either!
Sure, Dave Cormie let us all down by going to the Locos, but that's Football! I admit I HAVE been fooled a bit by Cormie, along with every other Huntly fan and the entire Youth Set-Up (of which I am part of) who he promised to help! The 3 year plan certainly went oot the window as soon as the Locos came calling. However, that doesn't change the fact he DID speak to the fans while he was here, UNLIKE Anderson. It also must be remembered, I think, that it was he who reunited the fans (with fans forums and the like) after Anderson caused friction with a lot of folk, so we at least have to take this into account!
At the end of the day nobody, (Player or Manager), is bigger than the club, and we move on.
Anderson won the title, surely thats the objective of all huntly managers.Your constant moaning about him because he didnt speak to you is laughable.Would you be happy if Huntly finished mid-table but the manager spoke to you?
What did he do after he won the title then? He sure as hell didn't build on it! Nobody is saying the manager has GOT to speak to folk, although in a comunity club like ours, it obviously helps to build a bond with the fans, which I don't think Mr Anderson ever did.
Anyway, nobody can argue I don't follow the club, given the mileage (and cost!) I put in both supporting and with my involvement with the Under 14's!
It is only MY opinion on Mr Anderson, and as such I feel I am entitled to air it, so that's that!
Please don't bother coming back on and having another go at me Jake, as you don't know me, and I don't know you, let's just move on!!!!
Jake, With respect, I think that you are missing the point that Alan G & most of the forum contributories are making. The point, as I perceive it, is all about COMMUNICATION between ALL people involved in Huntly FC, that is the Manager, the board & the supporters. Think about it...
Has there been a statement by the Huntly management team regarding Ringo wanting away,
Here's hoping that Dave McGinlay has someone in mind (if and when Ringo goes) to fill the positition on the right wing as Ringo has done alright this season in that role.
Andy Troup could maybe log on from his holiday and shine some light on what is happening,or is there someone taking his position whilst he is on holiday
This is a genuine question ? Was D Cormie given permission to speak to the lad's at Huntly whom he brought to the club, that if he moved on they could follow.
I think that the supporters deserve to know .
I am sure all this talk and turmiol must be right up the street of all our rivals.
So some positive answers by the Board would be welcome.
Lets not get sucked into the Anderson vs Cormie debate. Its History.
Two different Manager's with different approaches.
Cormie has gone and I hope it all goes "pear" shaped for him at Loco's.
It's important that all of us supporters remain "united" with our fellow supporters, many who work hard and quietly for the Club at all levels, along with the Team and Board in this time of change with our new Management Team just in the door.
However I would also ask the Players that Cormie did take with him originally from Formartine to really think hard about any ideas they have about joining up again with him.
Learn to be your own Man "Guys" and stay "loyal" to Huntly, and show support for your New Manager, Dave McGinlay.
Just remember, the "Future" is Black & Gold!!
Are we going to get a statement from the Board at Huntly as we thought we were building a team not breaking one up.
It seems that Dave Cormie was pulling all the strings with verbal or other contracts with the players he had signed for Huntly surely it should have been the team they signed for not the manager.
We as LOYAL SUPPORTERS not just jump ship like the (players that have left) deserve better. C'mon Board give us some answers.
Agree with the Questions being asked by the Moose.
There is a Board Meeting according to an earlier Post scheduled for Monday Night.
Hopefully we will receive a further statement from the Board regarding their Plans.
Would like to see "answers" to the following Questions.
(1) How many Players from D Cormies original "Formartine" signings have a clause in their contracts allowing a "quick" release from their Contract.
(2) How many other "non" Formartine signings have the same clause in their Contract. Example Big "Mo"
(3) Confirm that all Contracts are in writing, and were "agreed" to in principle with Board Members.
Note: Surley we are not "daft" enough to have "any" Player on a "Verbal" Contract!
OR
(4) Were Contracts agreed too with D Cormie and the respective Players "Only" as part of his Deal on
becoming the Huntly FC Manager as he did not want "any" Board involvement covering Contracts.
(5) Did Cormie "break" a promise to be open and discuss "Contracts" prior to Player signings with
the Board.
(6) What support is the Board giving the New Management Team who are just in the Door to "aid further
New signings and Timescales involved.
Would our "Chief Excutive" like to answer these Questions since we hear very little from him on Bread and Butter Issues of Huntly FC these days!
HOWEVER
These are Issues that we as Supporters will likewise "not" get a responce to from within the Club on the Principal that these are "closed" Door issues, but placed to "highlight" Supporter frustation on
Players signing for the Manager and not the Club in this respect.
Have to agree with previous post regarding players contracts,im astonished that the club let these clauses be put in to contracts. The big question is who within the club allowed this to happen?I would hope that contract negotiations were not left solely to the manager, because if that is the case,it is not just unbelievable it is so amateurish.Maybe the chief executive could answer these questions?
I'm of the opinion that it's no good hanging onto players who don't want to play for Huntly but whoever sanctioned the type of contracts that allows players to leave so easily needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
Not surprised by the palyers who have gone or are about to go but I thought it would have at least been in the close season.
God only knows what the new management team must be thinking?
When Dave Cormie joined, he assured me he would be with us for three years, an assurance he repeated to all of you. I thougth he meant what he said and the Board made a three year plan. Eighteen months in, how are we doing?
We have a winning team on the park, with silver in our cupboard,we are in the fourth round of the cup, we had a winning streak of seven games, tho due to missed games, our league position is not as high as we hoped.
We are out of the red and into the black, tho it is still marginal.
We have significantly improved our relationship with supporters, with the Fans Forum, the appointment of a Fans Liaison Officer, the active use of the web site, appropriate sponsorship of supporters buses, and an open relationship between fans and the manager which we encourage.
We have a strong sponsorship base with an excellent shirt sponsor and our corporate sponsorhip package is very well taken up and increasingly so.
We have put dynamic into our youth development programme throught the Kevin Keegan scholarship programme and the acquision of dedicted pitches for the youth teams. For the first time, we now have dedicated funding for the youth development programme.
We have introduced and new and highly successful aspect to our development through the legends luncheon programme. The first two brought in £17,000 in new sponsorship money and opened up the relationships with Kevin Keegan and his Soccer Circus and Sir Tom Farmer and the Hibernian Football Club youth training set up, one of the best in Scotland. both of these relationships are being further developed. The most recent luncheon enabled us to donate £4,500 to the community of Huntly to help buy a new community bus.
Now by any objective assessment we are well on track to full delivery over the three year planned period.
Of course our plans have been disruped significantly but temporarily by Dave Cormie walking out. However, the board acted with speed and efficiency in finding a replacement and we are now giving Dave McGinlay our full support in taking over the reins.
The points about our contracts are interesting and I will look into this. I do not get involved with contracts or negotiations with anyone, this is left to those who understand football which I do not. I would only mess it up if I tried, it is not my field of expertise. My job, as I have always made clear, is building the foundations to make Huntly Football Club the best in the Highland League. However I am aware that the contract situation is being studied by those who have the expertise to advise properly and will take a close interest.
It is the nature of this advice that it must remain behind closed doors for the moment.
I would add that these are my personal views. I do have other thoughts about what has happened, but am told "That's Football" and my determination is to make as swift a recovery as we can and get back to the three year plan, giving the new manager our fullest support.
so robin after reading your last report what do you think the chances are in having a fans forum meeting with the new management team and the board aswell to see what the legend mcginlay s plans are with the club and fans
I have now spoken to both Robbie and to Dave and they are agreed that a Fans Forum where you all get the chance to chat with Dave and learn of his plans will be a good idea. With Christmas and New Year coming up, fixing a date may not be easy but lets see what we can do.
Robin,
Thanks for your swift reply to the Supporters concerns.
I'm sure many of our Supporters will now look forward to a Fans Forum involving the New Management Team and the Board.
As the Moose has already quoted earlier today, we are all here to work together for benefit of the Club. I can assure you that my "Post" was not a personal attack on you or on any other Member of the Huntly FC Board. Just our Points of concern re Contracts.
Whoever agreed to these clauses in the contracts clearly doesnt "understand football" or have "the expertise", and to say "thats football" is pathetic. This decision has cost huntly a decent transfer fee for a player who will regularly score goals in highland league football,a thing all teams are looking for.Im very dissapointed with Robins answer.
It would be wrong to look to place any blame covering the "prickly" issue over contracts to one
Person. The Person that some may "suspect" does a lot of "positve" work for Huntly FC and I'm "convinced" that this person would NOT leave the Club "exposed" in such a manner.
My original Post on this subject was not set up to pose a "witch" hunt and I "personally" think that some Issues may have been "pushed" through without this persons agreement or knowledge. (Enough said)
We have now secured a Fans Forum with the New Management Team and Board which is "excellent" news.
Therefore I will NOT comment again on the Issue of Contracts as I'm sure that this is under review with our Board.
The Forum will allow Supporters to have their say behind closed Doors on many subjects and a chance to listen to the Management and Board on their future Plans.
Its up to the Supporters who attend this meeting to get answers to "any" issues that they may have.
All very positive "spin". Quote "winning team on the park, silverware in cupboard, 4th round of Scottish Cup etc".
All achieved by a good squad of players which in turn makes Joe Public want to come and watch.
How long will it last if players are allowed to sign Mickey Mouse contracts that allow them to leave whenever they choose?
Huntly FC should be looking to build on the successes so far not be in danger of letting everything implode round about their ears.
Ultimately a proportion of "blame" should be attached to the board but it's now time for them to provide the means to recover from this setback positively!
Hopefully the lessons have been learnt and on a more positive note I applaud the appointment of Dave McGinlay whose enthusiam cannot fail to rub off on everyone.

Thanks Robin for your acknowledgement of the fan's concerns.
We as Loyal supporters are aware that we cannot begin to know what goes on behind the scenes but we have the same goals as the rest of you (board, management, players, and all who give their time and efforts to the cause)
Again I thank you and will be interested to your findings regarding the contracts etc.

I certainly agree with that last post from George, we definetly do need to bring in at least a couple of Strikers, sooner rather than later. The two I had in mind from the Juniors were Chris Mountford from Culter and Steve Bartlett from Sunnybank, both regular scorers for their clubs and natural strikers who would probably be looking for a step-up to the Highland League.
It was in the Evening Express a couple of weeks ago that we had made a bid for our old friend Richie Taylor from Banks O' Dee, but they turned it down saying he wasn't for sale. Pity because we could have done with him back, especially with Bruce going away to the States and with Neil Gaulds' defection to the Locos!
Anybody have any other suggestions on possible Strikers we could go for ?

who cares reliable source tells me a mister scott is back playing with us so bring it on! oh and matbe another surprise return on the cards..............
"Si" is on is way back to Huntly FC.
We also have two other Players coming in that are on "Loan" from Peterhead.
One Who is Ex Huntly FC and one other, Both to cover for the Gauld exist and the transfer listed McWilliams.
Also a strong rumour of the possible return of Taylor "tonight" from within the Town of Huntly.
Lets Hope this information is True, and the Club confirm sooner rather than later.
Merry Christmas "Guys" and I Wish "All" of our Fans on this Forum all the very Best!
Just had the manager on the phone and we should be able to make some sort of announcement at the end of the week.
Dave says talks have been ongoing and he informs me is looking for the right type of player(s) to improve the team with the aim of strengthen the side before the Scottish Cup.
Utility player Hamish Munro signed today from Peterhead, the former Forres player is eligible for the Scottish Cup as he didnt feature in the Blue Toons's Scottish Cup game
Also Alister McGinlay (brother of Dave) has joined the under 21 coaching team.
no, apparently Alan Shearer's been linked with Newcastle as Keegan's number two!
I spoke with our Alan at half-time and he says he's still awaiting his release from Edinburgh University so probably won't be completed until the weekend.
ok but i think it was in todays sun sayin that how alan shearer sang flower of scotland before the game an had signed for the club just 24 hours earlier
well he plays for the second team down here, i would've that huntly would've been looking at a striker from a first team or one with a bit of height as from what i've been told that is lacking in huntly's strike options but all the best to alan if he has signed.

OK LAD'S SEE WHAT YOU THINK. LET'S HEAR YOUR ANSWERS.
MARTIN JOHNSTON COULD BE JUST THE PLAYER THAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR AND AS FAR AS THE HIGHLAND LEAGUE WEBSITE HE COULD BE AVAILABLE.
I SEE THAT DAVE CORMIE IS ALREADY ON THE CASE FOR LOCO'S SO LET'S SEE IF WE COULD ATTRACT A PLAYER WORTHY OF A HUNTLY STRIP. HOW MANY STRIKERS DO THE LOC'S NEED?
Re: Transfer News & Gossip: Comings & Goings 07/08
January 25 2008, 11:06 PM
Agree with you moose,Martin Johnston would be ideal, proven scorer but pricey no change from 15k dont think we have that dosh, but if we are to compete v locos, buckie, vale thats the level we should be aiming at.Can we compete at that level ?
Matty Edmond, was a prolific scorer in the Juniors when he played for Hermes, so I think he'll undoubtedly bring goals with him. We were, (ARE), badly needing strikers so this is something to cheer, even if it is only a loan signing!
Thought the Bremner deal would never go through, the time it took to complete it, now the polish keeper can get a move to teh Dons. Brems will do well at Peterhead if he is at home long enough to get a good run at training etc.
Quite agree have been telling him for ages but he winnae listen to his mither !
Stubborn so n so !
Mind you all you have to do is press 'end' and that takes you to the last post on the thread

it's ok, should hopefully be moving to a new look forum (sooner rather than later) which should make things a bit easier to read and improve admin controls.
Details will be sent out first on the mailing list very soon so if you want to know more you'll have to sign up.
