Nothing controversial, all good forward looking stuff. We arranged to transport Kevin Keegan's mobile full sized goal post and the 50 footballs to Huntly, and talked about the arrangements for our cup final-Andy in his usual optimistic way has made sure there will be enough gold and black ribbon for the cup. On more mundane, but still important matters, Kathleen could not attend the meeting as she was doing the changed programme for Saturday's replay. We all agreed big Brems deserves a medal for that penalty save.
On finance, things are fine, we made excellent funds for the Sportsman's Dinner and a presentation cheque was handed over from Deveron Homes for the sponsorship of the scholarship programme.
We talked about sponsorship, probably a bit late to get sponsors for the replay, but we are going to try. Apart from that, Match sponsorships are going fine, arrangements for the fund raising boxing night are going well with all boxers, staff and facilities booked and ticket selling starting shortly. We talked about an end of season event, but decided to ask Kathleen to see if the Supporters, through the Supporters Club, would like to organise this.
On youth development, we were delighted to have Jim Veitch with us, he made a most valuable contribution. We were brought up to date on the progress of all the youth teams. Gordon Greig outlined how we are now part of the SFA Quality Scheme, going in at ground level. We also talked about getting more training for our coaching team. There will also be an opportunity, which we will post on the web site, for first aid training. The Youth Scholarship programme is moving along fine, the lastest person to show an interest is Alex McLeish. Meetings had been held during the week with Kevin Keegan and Sir Tom Farmer.
Kathleen was unable to attend the meeting, but she did report the fans disappointment regarding the wearing of the away strip at all away games, Andy assured the meeting that in the final we would be playing in Black and Gold. At this point, we reviewed our fans liaison programme, ageed that over the past eighteen months we have changed things for the better by a massive degree, and hoped the supporters appreciated this, as it was easy to complain, but praise does not come quite so readily.
Our town co-ordination programme is moving along fine, I am in touch with the Aberdeen Town Partnership with a view to celebrating our forthcoming cup win, and we are now in full speed for our Christmas Legends Luncheon programme, more details later.
We talked about progress with the Social Club, and about our Health and Safety programmes, where after the successful evaculation trial, the next step is to improve our health and safety signage.
Then we all went home-well, some of us did. Others went off in the direction of the Social Club.
Bye for now. |
