Last Nights Board Meeting Monday 5th February

February 5 2008 at 12:42 PM
Robin Dunseath  (no login)

Almost all of the meeting was devoted to considering the assessment of our progress on the Ten Standards to Live By system, done by John Anderson of The Entreprenerial Exchange. He identified many things he felt we are doing well, and a number that he feels require attention. I am going to give more of my time to the football club to make sure we make the most of his comments.

He praised our performance on the park, the fact that we are in the black financially, the work we have done to transform our relationships with our supporters, our youth development plans and in particular the potential that lies with our links with Kevin Keegan, Hibernian Football Club, Newcastle United and Soccer Circus. He also felt our Legend's Luncheon programme was an outstaning success and highlighted the most recent one where we raised a significant sum to help provide Huntly with a new community bus.He complemented us on our sponsorship and fund raising programmes which are currently playing a major role in financing our activities.

He also pointed out a number of areas where we could improve our performance-mainly to do with too much work being required from too few people- but to fix this, he acknowledged that we need more talented voluntary help and recommended that we find these people as soon as possible, so that we can nail down and develop the strong points with the club and fix those that need attention.

Our assessor was John Anderson, who has a background in managment consulting and accountancy, knows football, and has many business activites himself. He is Chief Executive of the Entrepreneurial Exchange, which is a networking organsation that includes many of the top people in Scotland who have built up their own businesses, and includes people like Sir Tom Farmer and Sir Tom Hunter. John has been working on our assessment since the start of January and has done it on a voluntary basis. Thank you John.

Hidden agenda?

February 11 2008, 8:12 AM

Is there something else behind having people outwith the club assessing how we're doing on and off the park.
Top marks for the work on improving the youth setup but i can't help thinking that some things may be for other reasons, a Scottish League application perhaps??

More committee members?

February 11 2008, 7:08 PM

I see Robin must've got his wish for new club officials/committee judging by extra numbers that were in the stand on Saturday.

Robin actually said "more talented volunteers" - I wonder just exactly what the "talent" is for some of the "additions" to the faces in the stand on Saturday.........

"You're Havin A Laugh" I'm having a laugh too now (I like your sense of humour) and would love to know who was in the stand! From another thread it would appear that one of the talents was keeping players off the bus seats!

I heard some of them weren't even there for the football!!

makes one wonder if theres no football interest why theyre getting a club tie. For me the only folk outwith the huntly fc manager that should get a tie is members listed on the board f directors and committee. that way we the fans know on a matchday who to apporach regarding club business, instead of up and approaching somone who will turn around and not know anything about football.

Talent?

February 18 2008, 9:25 AM

It's pretty poor that some of them are only there for reasons outwith football and seem more keen on the players rather than the game.
I know we have many regulars but i hardly think they'd act like that on a Saturday.
Maybe Robin or someone else can tell us what some of the folks present at Nairn do on the committee if in fact they are members.

John Anderson assessment of the club makes many good points, but the trick is to look not at these, but at the points where he says improvements can be made. He has identified a number of these, there is no point in having someone like John look at us and make a report unless we take his valid suggestions as to how we can improve seriously, and you will see a number of changes being made between now and the end of the season.

lots

February 20 2008, 11:22 AM

of good stuff on here.

was at the Cove game and John T certainly seemed to be busy (as usual)

However the incident with the Sponsor and John Sheran needs to be looked at:-

a) his treatment and language to the sponsor was unacceptable even though he was right that the sponsor shouldnt be walking through the away dug out during a game i feel I mean they are working

&

b) was the sponsor informed of where he should go and more importantly where & when he shouldnt go

obviously learnings should/need to be taken from this incident

Abuse towards Sponsor

February 20 2008, 7:44 PM

Jamieson,
You mentioned in a earlier post on Saturday night that you were talking at half time with the Sponsor
who was "blasted" by the Cove Manager's Rant.
In your conversation with this "chap" do you know if he made a complaint "direct" to any of our Directors or Committee soon afterwards?

The reason I ask is that I was sitting three rows back from where you were seated and although I
heard someone being "shouted" it was outwith my "angle" of view.
For that same reason, some of the Huntly FC Directors may "not" be fully aware as to what
had gone off!

I am also led to believe that both our Director of Football and Chairman were not back in the stand
when this "verbal" abuse happenend. For that reason I think that they "may" not be fully aware of the abuse fired towards that particular Sponsor, although seen by other supporters.
I'm sure that if our Director of Football had seen this, that some form of action and apology would have been issued quite quickly, in aid to smooth the waters on both sides.

Re: Rant

February 20 2008, 9:51 PM

Jamieson,
Thanks for that information.
Hope that does not put the Gentleman "off" from returning to Football Club in the future.

I'm sure that now you have "highlighted" this on the Forum that the Directors that do view this site
will look to bring this Issue up at their next Meeting for review. We Hope!
As there were over one hundred and thirty Sponsors at this Game a review on how they are "ushered" to and from there Stand Seats should be conducted, so that no repeat of this incident
happens again. This also boils down to Robin's past postings regarding a lack of Volunteers on a Match day, which is an ongoing issue too.
However a letter of complaint should also be sent to Cove Rangers regarding this "Abuse" as there reaction was well over the top!!

All the Best "J"

Andy, Jamieson.

Just to let you know i was in the stand when this happened and i went down to the dug-out and spoke both with the Cove manager John and the Sponsor.

This was smoothed over as soon as it happened.

I can confirm that the cove manager appologised after the match and it has been delt with.

Andy,
Thanks for confirmation on this issue. As quoted on a earlier Post I was fairly confident that you would sort this out quickly, which you done. Thank you.

PS, Nothing gets past you. Ever thought about playing in Goals!!
